Around 80,000 industry visitors from all over the world took the opportunity to exchange ideas about the latest developments at EMO 2025 and to take away impulses for their production of tomorrow. For the CHIRON Group, the appearance was a complete success: In a compact 450 m², the company presented four machining centers live under chip removal, along with tailored automation solutions – and received positive feedback from international decision-makers.
The CHIRON Group demonstrated what collaborative partnership looks like with a view to the manufacturing of the future: with an appearance that depicted the full range of modern, efficient production. From micro machining for medical technology, watches, and jewelry or the electrical industry to the complete machining of complex turbine components for aerospace to highly productive automotive and mechanical engineering applications, precision, dynamics, and process reliability were made tangible in real processes.
A true unique selling point at the fair, as only a few exhibitors demonstrated real milling and milling-turning processes – with chips, live and practical.
New product for micro machining: the Micro5 XL with automation

A crowd magnet was the Micro5 XL, which celebrated its official premiere at EMO 2025 in front of an international audience. The 'XL' stands for a new dimension in micro machining: more travel, increased cutting performance, and maximum flexibility. The Micro5 XL processes workpiece volumes up to 120 mm on a footprint of only 1.7 m² – with highly dynamic BC-5-axis kinematics, spindle speeds of 40,000 or 50,000 rpm, and acceleration values of up to 900 m/s³.
At the demonstration part 'Bone Watch' – a base with watch case and strap in the style of several interconnected bone plates – the Micro5 XL showcased its strengths in 5-axis simultaneous HSC machining: delicate structures, excellent surface quality, and reproducible precision.
The feeding of the raw parts into the clamping device and the placement of the finished Bone Watches in the storage was handled by the new automation variant Variocell PICK&PLACE. The productive combination is delivered as a unit and can be put into operation immediately – plug and play. The pallet cart offers space for up to 12 pallets with 400 x 300 mm and a height of up to 50 mm on a very compact footprint. A central advantage: The operating logic is identical to the Micro5 XL. It is operated from the front with the best view of the milling process, and multiple manufacturing units can be placed in close succession – production can easily grow with the piece counts.
The Micro5: Benchmark in micro machining

The Micro5 is the most successful micro machine on the market and the basis for the new XL variant. With a weight of only 550 kg and a 230-V connection, it can be flexibly integrated into almost any manufacturing environment. Despite its ultra-compact footprint, it impresses with high static and mechanical rigidity, delivering the required precision for the most demanding geometries. In live operation at EMO 2025, the Micro5 manufactured the finest connectors for aerospace and demonstrated why it has been regarded as the benchmark in micro machining since its market introduction.
Highly productive machining: DZ 15 W with Variocell UNO
With the DZ 15 W, the CHIRON Group showcased a double-spindle machining center that combines productivity, flexibility, and autonomy in a compact space. The in-house developed rotary table with direct drive positions in less than one second by 360° – wear-free, precise, and without backlash. Two exemplary processes were visible on the two table sides: on one side, the manufacturing of pump housings from aluminum for automotive, and on the other side, the production of fan covers from gray cast iron for mechanical engineering.
Thanks to the double spindle and automation with a Variocell UNO, the machining process continues on one side while loading and unloading occurs in parallel. Result: main time parallel processes, continuous parts supply, and optimal use in shift operation.
The automation unit with workpiece storage and changeover device ensures short cycle times and high autonomy – and expands the application possibilities of the DZ 15 W beyond large series.
Five processes, one continuous process with the FZ 19 S five axis

Whether aerospace, energy, or mechanical engineering: The FZ 19 S five axis is designed for high-speed machining of high-strength materials in demanding applications. In live operation, industry visitors could follow all manufacturing steps of an exemplary turbine housing: rough machining of the raw part, turning of contours and diameters, skiving for precise gearing, drilling of fits in high-strength material, and simultaneous 5-axis milling of freeform surfaces and complex, high-precision geometries.
The gantry portal design ensures high static and dynamic rigidity, and the active cooling of all components guarantees stable temperature management, thus ensuring process stability even during long machining times.
Complete competencies – added value for sustainably productive processes
In addition to the live demonstrations, the CHIRON Group presented its complete range of services. In the interactive showroom, the wide technology portfolio and the machine pool with refurbished used and available stock machines were showcased – a quick and cost-effective way to modernize one's own manufacturing.
Additionally, the experts at the booth advised on key competencies that make manufacturing solutions even more powerful and sustainable: the digital systems SmartLine for more efficiency, availability, and productivity. The services area informed about the comprehensive portfolio with services such as spindle repair, refurbishment, and optimization, tailored service agreements, the customer portal myCHIRON with e-shop for spare parts, as well as refurbishment solutions – for a productive second machine life of proven machining centers.
At the conclusion of the international leading trade fair for production technology, Matthias Rapp, Vice President Global Marketing, summarized: “EMO 2025 was a complete success for the CHIRON Group. We are very satisfied with the quality of the leads and were able to establish valuable new contacts. Particularly pleasing was the great interest from international visitors – we had many discussions with companies from Asia, North America, and Europe. Our innovations such as the Micro5 XL with Automation Variocell PICK&PLACE generated enormous interest, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The discussions confirmed: Automation and sustainable production remain central topics in the industry – and we are addressing them convincingly.”
