How can companies secure their processes for the future in times of global uncertainties, increasing competitive and cost pressure, and a shortage of skilled workers? This question is more relevant than ever in the metalworking industry. The EMO Hannover, the world's leading trade fair for production technology, provides answers. At SCHUNK, visitors can expect practical manufacturing components that make part handling and machining in the machine even easier, more flexible, and resource-efficient.

Automated loading and unloading is a crucial lever to increase productivity and efficiency in the manufacturing process. But which automation solution fits which manufacturing? The application specialist provides guidance and offers a wide range of automation types tailored to the requirements of batch sizes, workpieces, and manufacturing processes. The focus is on not only providing users with the right components but also supporting them from the beginning with sound expertise and the right steps.

New clamping solutions for versatile applications

In addition to automation, SCHUNK also offers all components for versatile and low setup time workpiece clamping in the machine. For machining complex workpieces or small batch sizes, the company presents new clamping solutions specifically tailored to the requirements of flexible manufacturing environments.

With the KONTEC KSC-5X, SCHUNK expands its family of 5-axis chucks with a powerful centering chuck. It has been specially developed for demanding machining tasks. Its higher base jaws enable clamping of complex workpieces with optimal accessibility in combination with a unique selection of system and top jaws available on the market. Thanks to a quick-change spindle system, the chuck can be quickly and easily adapted to new clamping tasks. With the integrated zero-point interface, it seamlessly integrates into the extensive clamping technology toolbox, allowing for versatile combination options for highly efficient workpiece clamping.

SCHUNK is also clearly moving towards flexibility with its lathe chucks. Following the manual chucks, a 2+2 jaw compensating chuck is now also available for power chucks. The new power chuck ROTA THW3 2+2 enables centric compensating workpiece clamping of any geometries - from round, cubic to irregular parts - thanks to its innovative drive concept. Equipped with a patented sealing and permanent lubrication, as well as a quick-change jaw system, it strikes a balance between low maintenance and short setup times while providing consistently high clamping forces.

Tailored with SCHUNK Engineering

Every manufacturing process is unique, and standard solutions are not always the optimal choice. SCHUNK supports users with a structured process for developing tailored solutions. From precise requirement definition to design, manufacturing, and integration, SCHUNK accompanies its customers - creating individual solutions that are precisely aligned with their production requirements in various industries. For example, custom hydraulic clamping devices for turbine rotors in aerospace, validated and optimized through digital simulation tools.

Standardized complete solution

While tailored developments are essential for complex requirements, small and medium-sized enterprises particularly need practical and quickly implementable concepts. This is where SCHUNK comes in with the new modular GROW automation cells. These turnkey, CE-certified complete solutions are intuitively operable, flexibly adjustable, and specifically designed to quickly and efficiently automate manufacturing processes. Whether for laser marking or part separation - GROW enables companies to optimize their production without extensive prior knowledge while benefiting from high reliability and scalability.

Data-based process control in real-time

With the growing automation and digitalization of machine tools, the intelligent monitoring of processes is becoming increasingly important. SCHUNK's electric and sensor-based clamping systems enable real-time monitoring of process-relevant conditions of the clamping devices and workpieces, as well as the vibration behavior of the tools. This not only offers more safety and continuous transparency but also allows for easy integration into existing machine controls - an important foundation for the manufacturing of the future. A highlight will be the battery-operated clamping devices, whose integration occurs wirelessly, e.g., via radio through solutions from common measurement system providers or via IO-Link-Wireless. Visitors can experience the advantages of these technologies firsthand at SCHUNK in a live demonstration.
