Five intensive days of the trade fair, around 65,000 industry visitors from 76 countries. And right in the middle in Hall 10: the CHIRON Group. Here, integrated manufacturing concepts from machining technology, automation, and digital solutions were the focus. The application spectrum ranged from delicate precision parts for medical and precision engineering to large and heavy components for aerospace.

Full house, full attention: Shortly after the official opening of AMB 2026 on September 15, the CHIRON Group's booth was well attended, the exhibits were producing chips and sparking interest in future-ready manufacturing solutions. Attendees were closely observing, asking experts questions, and discussing technical details. This included Kati Wilhelm, special guest of the Stuttgart fair. The former world-class biathlete exchanged ideas with CEO Roman Gaida about parallels between top-level sports and precise high-performance manufacturing.
For him, the first AMB as CEO of the CHIRON Group was also something special: "For me, it's like a homecoming. After a few years without machining, it's a joy to see familiar faces again and feel the improving mood in the industry."
Where Automation meets Machining Excellence
"Whether the fully automated Micro5 XL, the MT 715 two+, the new MILL 2000 five axis, or the FZ 16 S five axis and FZ 19 S five axis with new pallet automation: We really utilized every square meter here to show what we live. We work with the tool in metal, we produce chips. And that's exactly what a trade fair like AMB is all about," said Roman Gaida.
"Uncompromising quality. From very small to very large." This statement on a trade fair wall made the CHIRON Group's offerings immediately tangible. For "very small," the Micro5 XL stood: highly precise, automated 5-axis machining for complex precision parts in medical and precision engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics, as well as tool and mold making. The compact manufacturing center forms an integrated unit with the respective automation: with the Variocell PICK&PLACE for part handling, the Variocell PALLET for automated pallet change, or the Variocell UNO with a 4 kg payload and 6-axis robot for workpiece handling and additional process steps.
Maximum process integration for precise and economical complete machining of complex workpieces, for example for mechanical engineering, generated great interest at the MT 715 two+. Milling and turning can be combined in any sequence with other processes such as gear cutting technologies and polygon turning. This reduces setups and throughput times and ensures reproducible quality for complex workpieces.
The new MILL 2000 five axis with rotary and swivel axes in torque technology for 5-axis simultaneous machining was also a crowd puller, featuring a machine concept that can flexibly adapt to different requirements. The consistent standardization simultaneously reduces investment costs by up to 25 percent. With bed lengths of up to 12,000 millimeters, the MILL series ranges from demanding milling tasks in mechanical engineering in small and medium series to large structural components for aerospace.
For those looking to combine high-performance 5-axis machining of high-strength materials with flexible automation, the FZ 16 S five axis with Variocell PALLET was the right choice. The combination is designed for high variant diversity, for example in automotive or contract manufacturing, as well as for productive runtimes beyond shift end: 26 pallets provide flexibility for changing workpieces and small batch sizes, with workpieces weighing up to 300 kilograms being fed automatically.
How can more value be created in heavy-duty applications? With automated manufacturing for long autonomous runtimes – beyond shift end, through the night, or into the weekend. With the FZ 19 S five axis with turning function and new Variocell PALLET, the CHIRON Group demonstrated how this works for "very large." The pallet transfer is designed for weights up to 1,200 kg and large workpiece dimensions, for example for aerospace; the easily accessible setup pallet facilitates the preparation of new orders.
Integrated into all manufacturing solutions from small to large: the new standardized order management for autonomous and flexible manufacturing even in small batch sizes. It creates transparency about orders, workpieces, and processing progress and supports planning, prioritization, and structured processing.
The comprehensive solution offering of the CHIRON Group also includes services, automation, refurbishment, and spindle repair. At their own themed islands, experts presented their portfolio and were available for specific questions and individual advice.
Inspiring the next generation for technology
The AMB was also a stage for the next generation. At the special exhibition on education by the Young Foundation for Mechanical Engineering in the atrium, technical trainees from the CHIRON Group practically conveyed to students what modern milling technology is all about, sparking interest in training and a professional future in mechanical engineering.
Ten, nine, eight ... one – and go!
Right on time at 3 PM on the last day of the trade fair, it got loud at the booth. The trade fair team counted down from ten together, and on "Go!" followed the traditional "Knocking" of the machining centers – the shared conclusion after five intensive days. Matthias Rapp, Vice President Global Marketing of the CHIRON Group, draws an initial balance: "AMB 2026 has shown the importance of the interplay between machining technology, automation, service, and digital solutions for industrial manufacturing. At our booth, the range from micro machining to productive variant manufacturing across all industries to the production of large workpieces generated great interest. The high internationality of visitors, the quality of professional discussions, and numerous new contacts confirm AMB as an important meeting point for the industry."
