The CoroDrill DE10 is an indexable drill with the patented Pre-Tension interface featuring pre-tensioned clamping. This allows for quick and secure head changes as well as exceptional user-friendliness. It was developed for drilling hard materials with uniform surfaces and offers high productivity, predictable performance, and a wide range of applications. Thus, it is ideal for production environments with different materials.

"In developing the CoroDrill DE10, our goal was always to create a robust and extremely versatile drilling solution," says Mikael Carlsson, Global Product Specialist for Indexable Rotating Tools at Sandvik Coromant. "Thanks to the two new geometries, even more application scenarios can now be covered without compromising the user-friendly plug-and-play functionality."

The -M5F geometry was specifically developed for flat-bottom drilling and demanding applications. It is particularly well-suited for starting holes in complex components or when a flat-bottom profile is required. It is also ideal for step drilling, where the -M5F geometry is first used for the largest diameter, followed by one of the other geometries from the range.

The -M5C geometry is optimized for cast iron and features reinforced corners as well as increased wear resistance thanks to the GC3334 grade. It also represents a valuable addition to the -M5 geometry in ISO P-, M-, and S-materials where additional corner strength is required.

The large range of applications is one of the key strengths of this tool concept. The original -M5 geometry already enabled customers to use a single drill head for multiple materials, thus reducing their tool inventory. The expanded range now allows for even finer optimization without compromising user-friendliness.

"Our geometries are the key," emphasizes Carlsson. "They are the result of extensive research and development as well as patented design work. They offer our customers high productivity, long tool life, and consistent performance – even at the highest cutting parameters. This is where the positive impact on CO2 emissions is most evident."

The CoroDrill DE10 enables higher cutting parameters, faster feed rates, and lower cutting forces. This reduces the cost per hole and decreases CO2 emissions. Additionally, customers report significantly longer tool life compared to earlier solutions. This lowers carbide consumption and enhances Manufacturing Wellness.
