Kyocera Unimerco is taking targeted measures to actively support the sustainability goals of the Kyocera Group. These goals align with the ambitious target of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels. Since joining the 'Science Based Targets' (SBTi) initiative in 2019, Kyocera has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 1, 2, and 3 by 46.2% by the fiscal year 2031 compared to the fiscal year 2020 and significantly increasing the share of renewable energy. Kyocera Unimerco plays a key role in achieving these goals, as evidenced by recent progress and initiatives.

Kyocera Unimerco is on track to meet its sustainability goals: The company expects to achieve the reduction target of 46.2% in Scope 1 and 2 as early as 2026. For the fiscal year 2030, Kyocera Unimerco has set another goal - a reduction of a whopping 70%.

Progress in Recognizing Scope 3 Emissions

The collection and calculation of Scope 3 emissions poses a particular challenge, as these typically account for the largest share of total greenhouse gas emissions. Estimates suggest that Scope 3 emissions make up to 80% of Kyocera Unimerco's CO₂ footprint. Thanks to significant progress in identifying and calculating these emissions, Kyocera Unimerco now has valuable data that serves as a basis for further actions to achieve corporate goals. This data enables the Kyocera Group to track progress accurately and communicate transparently to all stakeholders.

Honors and Awards for Outstanding Sustainability Achievements

Kyocera's previous sustainability efforts have been recognized by various organizations. In 2025, the company received a Silver Rating from EcoVadis, an internationally active ESG rating organization based in France. This award is given to the top 15% of rated companies. Additionally, Kyocera was included in TIME's list of the 500 most sustainable companies in the world in collaboration with Statista. The international non-profit organization CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) recognized Kyocera in 2025 for the fourth time with a place on its prestigious A-List for outstanding environmental transparency and climate protection measures. Furthermore, Kyocera was included for the tenth time in Clarivate's list of 'Top 100 Global Innovators™ 2026'.

Successful Environmental Projects by Kyocera Unimerco

The remarkable progress of Kyocera Unimerco is based on a variety of ecologically effective projects. One example is the evaporation of sludge from the coolant system in Sunds, Denmark. This project contributes to both water savings and waste reduction.

At its US location near Michigan, Kyocera Unimerco has expanded its solar park. By increasing the use of self-generated solar power, 33% of total electricity consumption is now covered, resulting in a 29% reduction in CO2, attributed to the installation of solar panels in the fiscal year 2026.

With these and other projects, Kyocera consistently pursues the path of continuous innovation and sustainable growth as a guideline for the future of the company.
