With the DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation, DMG MORI sets a benchmark in 5-axis universal machining. Based on the special table kinematics, the proven machine concept has been fundamentally further developed to meet the increasing demands for accuracy, dynamics, and flexibility. Therefore, the DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation adheres to DMG MORI's Machining Transformation (MX) concept: the machine integrates manufacturing processes such as milling-turning, gear milling using gearSKIVING technology cycle, and grinding. This process integration transforms the DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation into a multifunctional machining solution that can flexibly adapt to various requirements and industries, fully exploiting the potential of cutting-edge machining technology. Intelligent automation solutions optimize machine utilization around the clock as needed. Modern control options – a SINUMERIK ONE and a HEIDENHAIN TNC 7 – on CELOS X pave the way for Digital Transformation (DX).

Maximum flexibility, precision at peak level

With an accuracy in the micrometer range, the DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation is a benchmark in precise and flexible 5-axis universal machining. Image: DMGMORI

The DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation is flexibly applicable in numerous industries and meets the highest requirements for accuracies in the micrometer range (4 µm in circularity test). Whether for the smallest tolerances or fast, highly productive machining – the reliability and precision of the machine meet every industrial demand and are unique in its segment. With an expanded working space and an increased table load limit by 100 kg (up to 500 kg), the DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation makes a significant contribution to future-proof manufacturing in various application areas.

Robust construction and cooling technology for constant precision

A stable and temperature-controlled machine bed made of hybrid mineral casting and the gantry design give the new DMU eVo generation high stiffness as a basis for high-precision machining. The thermosymmetric construction and a comprehensive cooling concept keep critical components constantly tempered, including the guideways, the Y-slide, the spindle head, and the B-axis. This guarantees high positioning accuracy and thermal stability. The DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation is also available as a µPrecision variant, allowing it to machine even the most demanding precision components with high accuracy. The complete enclosure of the working area prevents coolant contact and increases the machine's lifespan, while directly driven ball screws and linear motors ensure high dynamics and also contribute to precision.

Powerful spindle portfolio

The spindle portfolio of the DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation is part of the efficiency and precision-enhancing features. It offers speeds up to 40,000 min⁻¹ and includes speedMASTER models in different power classes. High-speed spindles with cooled shafts achieve the best surfaces – also with the highest precision, making the universal machining center competitive in the most demanding industries.

Flexible automation solutions and large tool magazine

The competitiveness of the DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation is further enhanced by compatibility with all DMG MORI automation solutions, such as the workpiece handling WH Cell, the Robo2Go Milling, or the PH Cell pallet handling. The space-saving machine layout (the footprint has been reduced by 20 percent) allows for optimal integration into production. The still large tool magazine with up to 300 places makes the DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation an ideal solution for highly dynamic and precise 5-axis simultaneous machining in automated manufacturing. An innovative tool shutter has reduced the chip-to-chip time by one second to just 4.5 seconds, further increasing the machine's efficiency.

Working space, ergonomics, and user comfort

The DMU 60 eVo 2nd generation is easily accessible due to the ergonomic, straight working space door, both in manual operation and during crane loading. Compared to its predecessor, the working space has increased by 40 percent to 750 x 550 x 550 mm, allowing for a wide range of components. A large swivel range and optimal chip removal with steep slopes and a 20 percent wider conveyor ensure process-safe manufacturing with perfect chip fall. Additionally, all maintenance-relevant components are user-friendly and accessible without a ladder.
