In times of a multitude of difficult framework conditions, component manufacturers in key industries need innovative partners and technology suppliers more than ever to help them master the special challenges. One example is Citizen Machinery Europe GmbH: With powerful Cincom long-turning and Miyano short-turning technology, the Esslingen-based lathe manufacturer ensures high-quality and profitable production even in difficult times. At the Turning and Machining Days Southwest (DST) from April 9 to 11 in Villingen-Schwenningen, the company will showcase a cross-section of its capabilities and possibilities for customized solutions at Hall/Stand D.116.
The Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region is one of the largest clusters of the machining industry in southwestern Germany and is a driving force for turning and machining technology with many advanced companies. 'As an industry platform, the DST is therefore the perfect forum to present our turning technologies, automation solutions, and services to the local professional audience right at our doorstep and to promote fruitful knowledge transfer,' says Sascha Gersmann, Head of Marketing and Key Account Manager at Citizen Machinery Europe GmbH. 'For this year's DST, we have once again put together a top-notch technology package that we will present there.'
With the power of HF: Multitalent manufactures complex components in a single operation

A real eye-catcher will be the new Cincom long-turner L20-3M12B5 ATC HF. The multiple additions in the name of the long-turner, such as ATC and HF, always indicate technological 'highlights' at Citizen – rightly so: Introduced as a world novelty at the AMB, the L20-3M12B5 ATC HF has the technical prerequisites to manufacture complex workpieces from difficult-to-machine materials, such as in medical technology, with the highest precision in a single operation. The necessary power is provided by twelve high-frequency spindles with up to 60,000 rpm – referred to as 'HF' in the machine name.
In addition, the long-turner is equipped with the automatic tool changing system 'ATC'. This means: The integrated magazine with twelve tools transforms the long-turner into a true multitalent. Complex milling operations are efficiently carried out in a single operation, and the sister tool function significantly increases productivity. The 5-axis simultaneous milling technology enables micro-milling operations with the highest precision and excellent surface quality – all in one pass!
Sascha Gersmann: 'The highest precision and surface quality previously required separate processes on costly 5-axis milling machines. Our L20-3M12B5 ATC HF can process precious metals at extremely high cutting speeds. This means complete processing on one machine and new benchmarks for efficiency, cost reduction, and precision.'
Versatility genius for new innovative machining possibilities

Citizen also showcases a special 'winner type' for industrial manufacturing processes with the long-turner Cincom D25-1M8: Equipped with up to 59 tools, two vertical holders at the guide bush for high flexibility in machining at the main spindle, and a B-axis (Type VIII), the D25 long-turner is particularly suitable for fast and productive machining at the highest productivity level. Sascha Gersmann: 'The D25-1M8 is particularly impressive due to its high drive power and versatility for machining complex workpieces from bar material in standard up to a diameter of 25 mm and optionally up to 32 mm.'
The high number of tools at the main and counter spindle keeps production costs low and offers multiple machining options.
Speed and accuracy with the versatility genius Miyano ANX-42SYY
In the Miyano short-turning segment, Citizen has brought the powerful short-turning automatic ANX-42SYY to Villingen-Schwenningen. Two Y-axes, identical part components from two 12-station tool turrets, as well as main and counter spindles are just some of the features from the system layout that give the short-turner its impressive performance. In combination with speed-optimized linear technology, forward-looking Citizen developments such as LFV technology for chip break optimization, and user-friendly FANUC control technology, among others for the superimposed overlay mode, component manufacturers receive a strong technology bundle. The machine concept allows for high degrees of freedom in the machine space with an impressive variety in the choice of materials and geometries for complete machining via front and back side machining of complex components, even from difficult-to-machine materials.
