Future-proof universal machining centers

Based on the proven and robust design of the 3-axis DMV vertical milling machines, DMG MORI has developed the DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U for 5-sided machining of complex workpieces weighing up to 300 and 350 kg respectively.

With travel paths of 600 x 600 x 510 mm for the DMX 60 U and 800 x 600 x 510 mm for the larger model, the new universal machining centers cover a wide range of components in general mechanical engineering, tool and mold making, as well as other demanding industries. A foundation for high precision requirements is the monolithic machine bed made of solid cast components and the wide roller guides. They provide the DMX U models with 45 percent higher stiffness compared to the predecessor series and enable dynamic machining with feed rates of up to 42 m/min.

Extensive measures for temperature compensation ensure high thermal stability and thus a consistently precise manufacturing process, while direct measuring systems and direct drives in the X and Y axes guarantee high positioning accuracy. The circularity accuracy is 6 µm. Furthermore, the DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U are ideal machines within the framework of Machining Transformation (MX) thanks to numerous automation solutions, the app-based control system CELOS X, and energy-efficient operation.

Highest performance with a wide spindle range

To ensure that the DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U can showcase their strengths in as many application areas as possible, a comprehensive spindle offering is available – starting with the inlineMASTER spindle with 12,000 rpm as standard. Optionally, speedMASTER spindles are available either with high torque of up to 200 Nm or with a speed of 20,000 rpm. As with all MASTER spindles, a warranty of 36 months without runtime limitation applies here as well. The standard BIG PLUS interface provides additional stability and accuracy for the machining process.

Machine development with a focus on Machining Transformation (MX)

DMG MORI has developed the new DMX U models against the backdrop of Machining Transformation (MX) and considered the pillars of process integration, automation, digital transformation (DX), and green transformation (GX). For example, users can integrate grinding into the working space of the machines, eliminating the need for additional machines or preserving capacities on other machines. Automation solutions such as Robo2Go Milling and MATRIS light, as well as the pallet handling systems PH 150, PH Cell 300, and PH Cell Twin, enable flexible, automated operation even in unmanned shifts. At the same time, CELOX on a SINUMERIK ONE or a HEIDENHAIN TNC7 creates the perfect platform
for digital processes. With a view to as climate-friendly and economical manufacturing as possible, DMG MORI has equipped the two universal machines with GREENMODE. Energy-efficient components and intelligent control systems reduce energy consumption by ten percent.
