Eural Gnutti, a manufacturer of drawn rods made from aluminum alloys for machining and one of the key players in the production of extruded rods and profiles – is making its debut at the AMB in Stuttgart.

In this sense, Eural Gnutti's participation in the event represents an important opportunity to showcase its high-performance aluminum alloys and strengthen collaboration with machine builders and tool manufacturers by pooling the accumulated know-how regarding the balance between material performance and efficiency of production processes.

Alloy 2033 LEAD FREE from EURAL

All eyes are on the alloy 2033, developed by Eural to preempt the increasingly stringent restrictions on the use of lead while ensuring a high level of productivity and quality in machining. An alloy that combines high machinability in key machining processes such as turning, milling, drilling, and threading with process stability and excellent surface properties, particularly thanks to its outstanding suitability for anodizing. The 2033 builds on the legacy of historical alloys with high machinability and reinterprets this in light of the demands of today's manufacturing industry. While the alloys developed in the second half of the 20th century were designed primarily for mechanical machine tools, Eural's offering has been developed to meet the characteristics of modern CNC machines and fully exploit their potential. The goal is not simply to replace a historical alloy like the 2011, but to offer customers a solution that increases productivity while ensuring process stability.

Thanks to its metallurgical properties, the 2033 enables the handling of particularly demanding machining tasks while maintaining dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and effective chip management, which positively impacts cycle times. In applications on multi-spindle machines, the alloy allows operation at high speeds and high pressure, as well as the programming of fixed cycles.

Moreover, it represents an excellent and sensible alternative to other metallic materials, especially brass, which can also be attributed to the low melting point of the bismuth contained in the composition. In addition to its machining capabilities, the 2033 features an environmental profile that aligns with Eural Gnutti's path towards more sustainable production models. The alloy complies with the RoHS directive and has been designed to allow for a high proportion of recycled aluminum - with peak values of up to 95% - to be used. This helps reduce the use of primary raw materials without compromising the quality standards required for the most demanding applications.

Machining Trials: The Added Value of Eural

The machining trials conducted with customers in Europe, the United States, and Asian countries for over fifteen years have enabled Eural Gnutti to build a treasure trove of application knowledge acquired directly in practice. The trials, conducted on conventional machining machines, multi-spindle lathes, and state-of-the-art CNC machining centers, allow for the analysis of the behavior of the alloys under various production conditions and the translation of this experience into concrete added value for each specific application. Machine park, tools, process parameters, and component geometries can significantly influence the end result. For this reason, Eural Gnutti supports customers in identifying the most effective solution and works closely with machine manufacturers and tool manufacturers. This approach extends the value of the delivery beyond the material, thanks to direct exchange with the entire supply chain and a holistic perspective that connects metallurgical expertise, process knowledge, and the ability to capture specific production requirements.
