Since 1985, KASTOssb has stood for reliable sawing technology, high versatility, and robust machine quality. Four decades of practical experience have gone into the further development of the new KASTOssb, the high-performance band saw machine in heavy construction. This is particularly evident in the saw feed: The designers replaced the previous hydraulic solution with servo motors in the new saw feed. The electromechanical drive only consumes power when actual sawing is taking place. The result: an energy-efficient and quieter production. The automatic feed control is part of the standard equipment. With KASTOrespond, the parameters are automatically adjusted to the respective application, optimizing cutting times.

Chip conveyor: flexible and space-saving
The new chip conveyor can be mounted either on the right or left, and the desired discharge direction can be specified by the operator when ordering. This allows the device to integrate even more flexibly into on-site workflows. The exclusively top-conveying design minimizes clogging risks, meets the latest safety standards, and reduces coolant discharge. Depending on the application, discharge heights of 600 or 1,050 millimeters are available.
For installation and removal, the conveyor will now be equipped with rollers. Thanks to the new design, it can be rotated 30 degrees and pulled out more easily when mounted on the left side. The required installation space (for a chip conveyor discharge height of 600 millimeters) is reduced from 3.6 to 2.9 meters. This allows users of the already very compact machine to save even more valuable and limited space in production.
Improved maintenance and accessibility
Split covers and foldable rear doors facilitate access to the saw band and central components and enable a space-saving setup. A new viewing window at the front also provides a clear view into the working area, the roller conveyor, and material supply.
Intelligent software saves time and material
The newly launched control generation KASTO ProControl makes operation more efficient, intuitive, and transparent. Dashboard and Simple Mode support daily work, while the material library, cutting plan, and intelligent cutting optimization save time and material. Diagnostic and analysis tools help to quickly narrow down disturbances and reduce downtime.
High cutting accuracy saves material and time

The new programming also improves positioning and cutting accuracy. Even with machines from the KASTOwin series 107 with ProControl, the cutting lengths were particularly consistent within the specified tolerance range. This effect is also evident in the new KASTOssb: In a measurement series on a KASTOssb FC 2.6 with C45 round material, 90 millimeters in diameter and 10.00 millimeters target cutting length, the average was 10.011 millimeters, with a standard deviation of 0.048 millimeters. Precisely reproducible cutting lengths enable smaller saw dimensions and save material and time in subsequent processing steps.
Low vibration and universally applicable

Another essential factor for high cutting quality and productivity is targeted vibration management. A proven core element of the KASTOssb series remains unchanged: the upper part made of mineral casting. This is characterized by high damping capacity and effectively reduces vibrations. This is a significant advantage for bundle cuts, sawing pipes and profiles with diameters up to 260 millimeters, and when using carbide saw bands. The latter are now explicitly part of the application spectrum. An option is also available for using 34 millimeter wide saw bands.
From individual machine to fully automated line
The KASTOssb is available as AC 2.6 for stand-alone use or with roller conveyor, as well as FC 2.6 with automated material input and infeed and outfeed. The FC variant can be expanded with KASTOsort for automated robot handling and with storage systems. This creates a compact, scalable automation platform even for medium-sized companies.
Sawing, storing, processing – compactly linked in the new KASTO sawing center
The KASTOssb can also be integrated into the new fully automated KASTOcenter compact sawing center. The modular concept connects tower storage, robot-assisted infeed and outfeed, sawing, and downstream processing into a 24/7 capable material flow on the smallest footprint.
