Following the acquisition by Modig at the beginning of the year, LiCON is strategically restructuring and is consistently focusing on international growth, the development of new customer segments, the expansion of their technological expertise, and the targeted development of personnel and capacities.
Since May 1, 2026, Christoph Czoske has been leading the mechanical engineering company based in Untersulmetingen as the new managing director. He succeeds Winfried Benz, who resigned from his position as managing director of LiCON on January 1, 2000, and handed over the management responsibility to younger hands.
Long-term influence and strategic direction
Winfried Benz significantly shaped LiCON as a managing partner for more than two decades. Under his leadership, the company evolved from a provider of rotary indexing machines to an internationally positioned specialist for modular machining centers. At the same time, the portfolio was strategically expanded to include process expertise, system solutions, and automation.
Key milestones include the internationalization of the company, the transformation towards highly flexible manufacturing solutions, and most recently, the strategic opening towards the aerospace industry. Mr. Benz created crucial conditions for the diversification and future development of LiCON. Shareholders and employees express their gratitude for his long-term commitment and entrepreneurial foresight.
Continuity, implementation strength, and international experience
With Christoph Czoske, a leadership personality takes over who has known LiCON for many years and has significantly shaped the development of the company,” says David Modig, chairman of Modig Machine Tool. “He stands for continuity and operational strength and also brings the perspective of specifically further developing LiCON as part of our group.”
Christoph Czoske (37) has been with the company since 2014 and has extensive experience across the entire value chain. After earning his Master of Engineering at the Technical University of Ulm, he was responsible for project management, service and after-sales, as well as mechanical assembly. Additionally, he led international customer projects for many years and was significantly involved in the locations in China and the USA.
Most recently, he served as Director of Operations, overseeing the entire project execution – from the sales phase through implementation to service – thus managing central operational processes along the entire customer value chain.
Clear strategic direction and growth trajectory
In his new role, Mr. Czoske will particularly drive international scaling, diversification regarding customer segments, the expansion of automation solutions, and the further development of customer-specific production concepts. At the same time, the targeted development of personnel and competencies will play a central role in sustainably securing the planned growth. LiCON continues to focus on training skilled workers and engineers.
The strengths of LiCON lie in our high level of expertise, our pronounced manufacturing depth, and a comprehensive understanding of processes,” explains Christoph Czoske. “In combination with our agility, our willingness to change, and a consistently modular product structure, a powerful overall package for our customers emerges, starting in the sales phase and covering the entire lifecycle of our machines. In a challenging market environment, competence and trust are decisive. With our strong, competent team and our innovative solutions, we will sustainably succeed in the competition.
Strengthened into the next development phase
After the strategic realignment and integration into the group, LiCON is in a stable yet dynamic development phase. Significant growth impulses arise from the much stronger utilization of existing engineering capacities within the group, the joint and flexible use of assembly capacities, and the targeted expansion of LiCON's role as a manufacturing partner for machines within the corporate group.
At the same time, the company is consistently driving the diversification of its customer portfolio forward. In addition to new customers from home and abroad, particularly long-standing, satisfied existing customers with recurring follow-up orders form a solid basis for sustainable growth. The combination of technological expertise, group-wide collaboration, and a broad market positioning strengthens LiCON's position in international competition and creates the foundation for further profitable growth.
