The automation of machining centers and lathes is a quick way to optimize production utilization – especially with the help of workpiece handling systems that are easy to install and intuitively operate. In this category, the Robo2Go Milling and Robo2Go Turning from DMG MORI have proven themselves for many years. At the in-house exhibition in Pfronten, the machine tool manufacturer presents the third generation of the flexible robot solution for small to medium batch sizes. The increase of the workpiece storage by up to 50 percent, well-thought-out setup layouts, and easy handling make this innovation a valuable upgrade in any production.
Redesigned storage solutions and optimal accessibility
To enable the Robo2Go 3rd Generation to work even more autonomously, DMG MORI has primarily redesigned its storage solutions. A standard Euro pallet increases the capacity by twelve percent, while the drawer storage has been enlarged by 32 percent. Additionally, a pallet station with three Euro pallets is available, expanding the storage by 50 percent. The capacity expansion allows personnel significantly longer phases of automated production and correspondingly more time for demanding tasks in production planning. The new 70 kg module also allows for safe handling of larger and heavier workpieces up to 40 kg in a single grip. This closes the gap between the 35 kg module of the Robo2Go Turning and the 210 kg handling of the Robo2Go Max, significantly expanding the range of applications.
To ensure accessibility to the machining centers and turn-mill machines, DMG MORI can position the Robo2Go 3rd Generation on the right side. The working area, control panel, and tool magazine remain easily accessible this way. The left setup variant is still optimal for turret lathes of the CTX and NLX series in the case of the Robo2Go Turning.
Intuitive operation via machine control
The intuitive operation of the Robo2Go 3rd Generation is done via the Robo2Go App. No programming knowledge is required to create the process – predefined program modules are used that can be utilized via drag & drop. The app is integrated into the machine control, so NC programs do not need to be adjusted separately. Additionally, the Robo2Go Jobs App allows for clear management of the orders. In combination with the drawer storage, the Robo2Go 3rd Generation features the new Automation Control Station. The 19” touchscreen in a robust aluminum housing offers maximum user-friendliness directly at the drawer storage.
