With six cutting edges, the system offers an attractive cutting price per insert. The maximum depth of cut is 9.5 mm, which is about 4 mm more than the sister system 64T. Depending on the application, Horn offers the cutting inserts with two geometries as well as a variant without geometry. The available geometries ensure a process-safe removal of chips during machining. For machining stainless materials and difficult-to-machine materials, the grade IG65 is used. For general steels, Horn relies on the grade EG55 for the system 66T.

The available cutting widths are 2.5 mm and 3 mm. The corner radius is 0.2 mm. Geometry 1A is suitable for pure turning operations, while Geometry DL, in addition to turning, is also suitable for longitudinal turning processes. The DL geometry is therefore also available with a corner radius of 0.4 mm. The good chip control of the chip shape geometries ensures a high surface quality on the flanks and the straight main cutting edge produces a cleanly machined groove bottom. Designed as neutral turning inserts, they can be clamped both left and right in square shanks with internal cooling. The holder dimensions are 20 x 20 mm and 25 x 25 mm. A clamping screw securely and precisely fixes the turning insert in the central insert seat. In addition, Horn also offers clamping cassettes of type 220 for the modular holder system.
