Studer presented the new S23 CNC universal cylindrical grinding machine at EMO in Hannover.
"Thanks to its high-quality equipment, precision, and flexibility, the S23 complements the area between the entry-level and premium segments in our portfolio," explains Sandro Bottazzo, CEO of Fritz Studer AG. With a compact footprint, the CNC universal cylindrical grinding machine offers state-of-the-art and reliable grinding technology. For example, the modern hardware and software architecture C.O.R.E., an automatic B-axis with 1° Hirth gearing for up to three grinding tools, frequency-controlled motor spindles or belt drives, as well as the machine bed made of Granitan with its excellent thermal and vibration properties.

Customers also benefit from an innovative design that STUDER has developed for the S23. The arrangement of the grinding spindle head allows for great freedom of movement for the grinding tools in a clamping setup and increases efficiency, especially with geometrically complex workpieces. Additionally, the S23 offers state-of-the-art grinding technology such as crash detection, semi-automatic balancing of the external grinding wheel, and optional in-process measurement control.
Solution for a wide range of applications

Thus, the S23 is the ideal solution for a wide customer spectrum. With high accuracy and process reliability, it grinds small to medium-sized workpieces even with complex geometries in single and series production. "The S23 is optimal for production in mold and tool making, in the automotive and supplier industry, in aerospace, and in medical technology," explains STUDER sales manager Rolf Grossenbacher.
Moreover, customers have numerous configuration options to adapt the machine to their individual production needs. These include, for example, a C-axis for thread and form grinding as well as the optional tilting table. Custom adaptations are also possible.
Operation is simple and intuitive thanks to state-of-the-art digital technology and sensors. After a short introduction, employees can reliably achieve high-quality results via the C.O.R.E. touch panel and the StuderWIN software. Additionally, setup and changeover times are minimal, also due to the practical QuickSet function.
Customers who want to automate their production can do so efficiently and economically thanks to standardized loading interfaces for easyLoad and insertLoad. And of course, they benefit from the worldwide competent customer care of STUDER and the experience of a Swiss traditional company with over 111 years of history. "Thus, the S23 is a highly precise universal cylindrical grinding machine at an excellent price-performance ratio," summarizes Bottazzo.
