Automation is still not standard in single part and small batch production. However, increasing task density and lack of personnel are prompting many contract manufacturers to seek robotic solutions. Machine tool manufacturer HURCO informed about purpose-oriented automation solutions for efficient small batch production at EMO 2025.
With its ProCobots systems integrated into the control, HURCO aims to make automation at the machine attractive for everyone and help reduce error rates and downtime. The robotic arm works with most models from the machine builder and ensures efficient workflows on 3-axis milling machines, lathes, and 5-axis machining centers from the machine tool manufacturer.
At EMO, HURCO presented the new ProFeeder EasyDesk 30, a robotic solution for parts handling with a payload of up to 30 kilograms. Management and programming of the orders to be manufactured are done directly via the Job Manager at the machine. Multiple jobs can be set up simultaneously, and individual distribution of the components within the grid plate is possible.
New 5-axis machine for tool and mold making
The portfolio of TAKUMI machines has been expanded to include a 5-axis machine in traveling column design with a swiveling bridge. The new UA 400 is on display at EMO and, like all TAKUMI models, is designed for workpieces that require particularly high precision and surface quality. The machine is compact and space-saving, controlled by the current Heidenhain generation TNC 7, and can be loaded ergonomically. Thermal stability is ensured by targeted cooling of the spindle and a sensor system for compensating spindle growth, while an integrated chip conveyor and chip management system takes care of chip removal.
