Students from European universities and technical colleges in engineering disciplines are invited to participate. The winner will receive a prize of CHF 10,000.-. Fritz Studer AG produces standard machines and individual system solutions in high-precision cylindrical grinding for the processing of small and medium-sized workpieces. For the eighth time, STUDER is awarding the «Fritz Studer Award». Participation in the idea competition serves as a platform for young researchers to present their creative solutions. The aim is to promote and strengthen innovative developments in the machine industry with the award.
STUDER is looking for works and research results for this competition with the following
Content:
• Innovative machine concepts or components for machine tools in
precision machining
• Alternative materials in mechanical engineering
• Simulation models for dynamic and thermal behavior of
Machine tools
• Control, sensor, and monitoring concepts for machine tools
• Digital solutions to support the grinding process
• New or further developed manufacturing technologies, especially in hard finishing,
such as grinding, hard turning, and similar processes
Required: Sound results and feasibility
The research award is aimed at graduates from European universities as well as colleges and technical universities in engineering fields. Those who have worked on scientific topics or applied research focuses in their thesis, dissertation, or academic work are invited to participate.
In addition, they should be able to present sound results or partial results from their research work. What is crucial for the evaluation? On the one hand, the feasibility of the findings in the machine industry. On the other hand, the approach should be new. The scientific content, the form, and the accuracy of the statements will also be evaluated.
Endowed with CHF 10,000.-
A distinguished jury evaluates the submitted works and determines the winner.
The jury includes:
• Prof. em. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Konrad Wegener, inspire-iwf Machine Tools and
Manufacturing, ETH Zurich
• Fred Gaegauf, Board of Directors of Fritz Studer AG
• Dr.-Ing. Frank Fiebelkorn, Head of Research and Development at Fritz Studer AG.
Winners will receive a prize of CHF 10,000.-, the Fritz Studer Award, and a certificate.
The award ceremony will take place in mid-February 2027.
