The technology, already extensively tested in the USA, is still almost unknown here, but its advantages are undeniable: drastically longer tool life and coolant lifespan, significantly increased feed rates with reduced heat generation, as well as improved surface quality and reduced burr formation – all of this leads to a significant reduction in costs in metal cutting.

From sliding to rolling friction thanks to nanotechnology
NanoCoolant relies on an independent principle: while conventional emulsions try to reduce sliding friction between the cutting edge and the workpiece, with the use of MP 101 EU, only much lower rolling friction forces need to be overcome. This is made possible by tiny carbon nanoparticles, known as Nano-Onions, which act like ball bearings between the chip, cutting edge, and workpiece surface.
"This reduces heat generation by up to 80 to 90 percent compared to conventional cooling lubricants – which not only protects the tool but also significantly improves processing quality," explains Oliver Gasteier, managing director of NanoCoolant and industry expert with decades of experience in metalworking.
A crucial advantage of the blue nanofluid is its antibacterial effect: since no bacteria can form in the emulsion, it remains permanently odorless – a clear benefit for the working environment. At the same time, it is gentle on materials and does not attack seals, paints, or plastics. Another advantage arising from the composition: the emulsion is paraffin-free, which avoids the accumulation of residues and facilitates machine cleaning. The environment also benefits: MP 101 EU consists of only 12 components, while standard emulsions often contain 40 to 60 chemical additives and paraffins.
Easy cleaning with NanoCoolant X 800
Additionally, Oliver Gasteier and his team offer an efficient solution for machine cleaning with the cleaning agent NanoCoolant X 800. The alkaline solution is added to the existing emulsion, and then the machine is allowed to run for about six hours – during which it cleans itself.
"The lower wear and thus achieving double to triple service lives, the easy cleaning, and last but not least the odorlessness are unbeatable arguments for the switch," summarizes Oliver Gasteier the advantages of the carbon nanoparticle emulsion. The NanoCoolant products are now available for companies in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
