BIG DAISHOWA, a leading global provider of high-precision tool systems for the metalworking industry, introduces a new generation of 90-degree angle heads with integrated internal cooling. The TAG90 angle heads and the AG35 high-pressure coolant adapters deliver coolant directly from the spindle to the cutting edge. This eliminates the need for external coolant supply via the stop block – a significant step towards more stable processes when machining difficult-to-cut materials and complex component geometries.
With up to 70 bar coolant pressure and a flow rate of 30 l/min, the angle heads support reliable chip removal, reduce heat generation, and significantly extend tool life. Applications in titanium, Inconel, and cobalt-chromium, commonly found in turbine components, structural parts, and thick wall thicknesses, particularly benefit.
Users can choose between two variants:
-

New angle heads. Image: Big Daishowa Build-Up type with interchangeable AG35 high-pressure adapters – including New Baby Chuck and Side Lock – for flexible setup strategies and tool-side internal cooling.
- HMC type with high-strength clamping chuck construction for maximum stability. The HMC type can accommodate coolant through the spindle and directs it to a nozzle with exit openings near the tool cutting edge. Since the coolant is not routed through the tool itself, the HMC type is suitable for applications without tool internal cooling.
The modular concept allows for quick adaptation to different machining processes, while the robust sealing technology remains insensitive to frictional heat and mechanical wear. The integration of internal cooling also improves machining in deep cavities and reduces the risk of built-up edges and process instabilities.
"Many users struggle with insufficient chip removal, temperature peaks, and unstable processes when working with difficult materials," explains Christian David, Head of Sales at BIG DAISHOWA. "Our new angle heads with integrated internal cooling address this issue directly: they deliver coolant to the cutting edge without detours – at up to 70 bar. This significantly improves process reliability and creates the conditions for reproducible quality, even in deep cavities and complex components."
The angle head solutions also enable vertical and horizontal machining in a single setup. With the now integrated internal cooling, BIG DAISHOWA expands this advantage with an additional process-critical component – particularly relevant for users who want to economically manufacture complex components without additional clamping processes.
