The newly developed, robust interchangeable head drilling system from ZCC Cutting Tools Europe ensures perfect results in the drilling process with its high feed rates, specially tuned geometries, and increased strength of the cutting edges, as well as optimally matched grades. This is achieved while simultaneously reducing cutting forces – especially in steel and cast iron. The ZTE interchangeable head drill thus provides an ideal basis for powerful and economical manufacturing.
Durable and process-safe through simple design
The precise, integrated plug-and-play interface significantly simplifies tool changes and ensures high change accuracy. The quick change of drill heads saves valuable setup time. For drilling depths up to 5×D, no piloting is required – and this is achieved without compromising tool life or hole quality. The interface with 45% higher clamping force compared to conventional interfaces ensures reliable hold and maximum process stability.
The robust drill body ensures a stable and secure drilling process – even under demanding conditions. With designs available as Weldon or cylindrical shank, the system offers versatile application possibilities for different machine configurations. The diameter range from 12 to 25 mm and drilling depths from 1.5×D to 8×D enable precise and reliable machining in a variety of applications – from single-part production to large series.
Customer orientation as a driver of development
For the development of the ZTE interchangeable head drill, the European R&D department at ZCC Cutting Tools Europe directly oriented itself to customer needs.
"Our customers frequently asked us for alternatives to solid carbide and solid drills. The new drill was therefore designed as a hybrid of solid carbide crown and steel carrier to combine high productivity and cost-effective manufacturing in one product. Manufacturers are under constant pressure to produce faster and more resource-efficiently. The ZTE drill is our answer to these challenges," explains Volker Welsch, product manager for drilling at ZCC Cutting Tools Europe. "It combines robust construction with intelligent geometry – and that with maximum flexibility."
