The jointly developed sustainability agreements include the prioritization of environmentally friendly materials and the promotion of ethical and eco-friendly practices. They are the result of close collaboration and deepen the long-standing cooperation between the two companies.
The CERATIZIT Division Hard Material Solutions has signed a sustainability target agreement with the leading drive technology company Schaeffler. In this agreement, CERATIZIT and Schaeffler have agreed on goals for wear protection products made of hard metal.

A material that reduces resource consumption over the entire product lifecycle due to its durability and reusability. With a view to the ecological footprint and further reduction of resource consumption, the CERATIZIT portfolio also includes a range of premium hard metal grades made from reclaimed hard metal powder, which are characterized by a particularly low CO2 footprint. "We are pleased to be the first company in the category Designed Tools forming & moulding to sign a sustainability target agreement with Schaeffler," said Adrien Zoda, Director of Global Sales Hard Material Solutions at CERATIZIT.

This is the second collaboration between the two companies in the field of sustainability, following the successful and ongoing implementation of an initial sustainability target agreement in the Cutting Tool Solutions division of CERATIZIT. The previous agreement focused on the sustainable development and production of high-precision cutting tools. Initial results show lower Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) values across the entire portfolio. "Our ambitious sustainability strategy has enabled us to meet the necessary requirements for the two agreements, underscoring our commitment to lead our industry in sustainability," added Adrien Zoda.

Sustainability strategy as a foundation

The ambitious sustainability strategy of CERATIZIT and the progress made in recent years were crucial for meeting the requirements of the agreements with Schaeffler. For example, CO2 emissions have been reduced by 22% by 2023 compared to 2020. Another key component of the agreement is the transparency that CERATIZIT's Product Carbon Footprint information provides, which applies to both cutting tools and wear protection solutions.

The collaboration is an important part of the respective sustainability strategy of both companies. "Schaeffler takes ecological and social responsibility along the entire value chain," said Marco Troccoli, Head of Purchasing & Supplier Management Tools at Schaeffler. "Our agreements with CERATIZIT are another important milestone in our sustainable purchasing strategy, where we prioritize environmentally friendly materials and promote suppliers who adhere to ethical and eco-friendly practices."
