The new TRAUB TNK40 is designed for highly productive short-turning of workpieces of medium and high complexity. Like the TRAUB TNL32 compact, the machine features two identical working spindles (max. 8,000 rpm, 9.9 kW and 19 Nm each at 100% duty cycle) and two tool turrets, each with X, Z, and Y axes. Compared to the long-turning machine TRAUB TNL32 compact, the Z1 axis, the guide bush carrier, and the short-turning sleeve are omitted. Therefore, the bar passage of the TNK40 is slightly larger, with a maximum diameter of 40 mm. Additionally, a short loader with a smaller footprint can be connected.
Identical to the TNL32 compact, the working area of the TRAUB TNK40 ensures a very high power density with compact dimensions. The vertical working space concept stands for optimal process reliability, combined with minimal setup efforts. The decisive productivity advantage is achieved by the machine's high dynamics, for which a machine bed made of cast iron and vibration-damping machine feet form the basis. Here, the machine's kinematics come into play, allowing effective and simultaneous processing with two, three, or four tools. The high rigidity and thermal stability also ensure optimal workpiece quality.
Customizable

Like the TRAUB long-turning machines, the new short-turner is also modular in design, allowing the customer to choose between three variants. It can be configured as TNK40-9, TNK40-9B, and TNK40-11. While the TNK40-9 has nine linear axes, two turrets (each with eight stations, max. 12,000 rpm, 2.0 kW), a counter spindle with four stations, and an autonomous counter spindle, the TNK40-9B is equipped with an additional B-axis on the upper tool turret.
The TNK40-11 variant includes an additional front attachment with an autonomous cross slide in the Z and X axes, as well as an NC swivel axis, totaling eleven linear axes. This second upper tool carrier has six positions.
Three of the tool holders are driven, and one can even be equipped with a double holder. For all versions, an optional counter spindle with four tool holders is available, which is mounted on the lower turret.
With the latest CNC control TX8i-sV8, the TRAUB TNK40 is also well-equipped for the demands of the digital transformation of the manufacturing process. The foldable and swiveling 19" touch monitor is ideally suited for iXpanel functionalities, which open up easy access to a connected production.
