INDEX invites to the in-house exhibition 2025

This year, INDEX invites its customers and interested parties to the Open House event at the new iXperience Center in Deizisau.

From March 25 to 28, numerous INDEX and TRAUB machine innovations await visitors. Demand-oriented automation solutions, expert presentations, and discussions with technology experts from various industries round off the program. Other highlights include the presentation of High Dynamic Turning with tools in the turret and an integrated information event on the machining of hydraulic components.

The INDEX iXperience Center offers visitors of the Open House 2025 an ideal space for comprehensive machining experiences, as the name promises. The turning specialists have equipped the customer center with a variety of current turning-milling centers, production turning machines, multi-spindle machines, and universal lathes. These are equipped for live demonstrations and provided with automation solutions, allowing machining to be experienced live – at the highest level and with maximum efficiency.

For the first time, the new TRAUB production turning machine TNK40 can be seen, a pure short-turning machine developed based on the long-short turning machine TRAUB TNL32 compact. Instead of the movable spindle head for long turning, the TNK40 has a fixed spindle head with a 40 mm passage. Due to the low-vibration and simple bar feeding (e.g., via a short loader), the machine achieves a higher overall stiffness than the long turning execution, which is reflected in increased dynamics and component quality.

The TRAUB TNK40 is available in versions 9, 9B, and 11, depending on the number of linear axes and equipment with a B-axis.

Also brand new is the long-short turning machine TNL12 lean. This cost-effective entry-level variant is configured with only one turret and a rear unit. The driven guide bush is adjustable but not programmable. Optional extensions are, of course, still possible.

Another new feature promises particularly high productivity as well as short cycle and setup times: With its eight spindles, the compactly built CNC multi-spindle turning machine INDEX MS24-8 – equipped with the bar loading magazine MBL – promises new efficiency records. Thanks to numerous features and software tools, this multi-spindle machine can be quickly converted and is also suitable for machining new material standards such as lead-free brass.

Complete machining and automation

In addition to new developments, complete machining and automation – especially with turning-milling centers – play a significant role at the INDEX Open House. The turning machine manufacturer showcases its robot cell iXcenter using the example of the turning-milling center INDEX G220.2, which can be expanded from two sides with various modules.

Since a sufficient tool inventory is essential for automated machining, the machine-integrated INDEX tool magazines are already large-sized. If they are still insufficient, all INDEX turning-milling centers can be supplemented with the external INDEX tool magazine iXtools. This provides unrestricted access to up to 396 additional tools.

High Dynamic Turning – a technological highlight

A special technological highlight this year is High Dynamic Turning, which will be demonstrated on a total of three machines. In this process, the setting angle of a turning tool is continuously adjusted with the C-axis of a motor milling spindle. INDEX has developed a new input mask for High Dynamic Turning, allowing this process to be programmed easily and efficiently directly at the machine. This saves numerous tool changes, as even very complex turning contours can be machined with just one tool.

Wednesday is Hydraulic Day

For the first time, INDEX is hosting an "Event within an Event" at this year's Open House: the Hydraulic Day. Christof Gilnhammer will introduce the event as a keynote speaker. He is a board member for the "Value Chain Management" area and COO at HAWE Hydraulik, a leading manufacturer of hydraulic components and systems. Following this, experts from INDEX, MAKINO, MAPAL, and SFT will provide in-depth information on the machining of hydraulic components. Live demonstrations on the long-short turning machine TRAUB TNL32 compact and the 5-axis machining center MAKINO a500Z will round off the program.

Industry meeting around machining

The INDEX Open House is accompanied by 19 partner companies with various small exhibition stands and exhibits. Taking up a bit more space are the partners One Click Metal (INDEX is the majority shareholder here) and the Japanese premium machine tool manufacturer MAKINO, with whom INDEX maintains a global sales cooperation. One Click Metal showcases examples of holistic solutions in the field of 3D metal printing for small and medium component sizes. In addition to its 5-axis machining center a500Z, MAKINO also presents its current 4-axis machining center a40SE, which will be complemented by an INDEX robot cell iXcenter at the Open House.
In conjunction with the presentation of INDEX and TRAUB machines, INDEX invites all visitors to deepen their knowledge in important technology topics. Consulting stands and discussions with experts from the fields of gearing, whirling, and grinding, as well as automation, digitalization, procurement, refit, and industry management, provide the opportunity.
