Sodick at AMB 2026

EDM is increasingly becoming a part of automated production processes. How wire and sinker EDM can be integrated into existing manufacturing workflows will be demonstrated by Sodick at AMB 2026.

Sodick presents six machines with different automation concepts as well as solutions from partner companies for workpiece handling and multi-axis machining in Stuttgart.

At Sodick, two aspects are in focus: the integration of EDM into ongoing production and increasing productivity through automation. The AMB also falls in the year of the company's 50th anniversary. 'After our Competence Days in April, the AMB is our second major appearance in the anniversary year,' says Giuseppe Addelia, Managing Director of Sodick Deutschland GmbH. 'We want to show that EDM today is much more than a niche process. With the right automation solutions, it becomes an integral part of productive manufacturing processes.'

Automated wire EDM with ALC600P and SDG.ProOne

A highlight at the booth is the ALC600P in combination with the SDG.ProOne, a 6-axis articulated robot from Fruitcore Robotics. The system takes over workpiece handling directly at the wire EDM machine and is designed for both single-part and series production. It is space-saving and can be flexibly scaled when production requirements change.

For sinker EDM, Sodick showcases the AD35L with the SDG.HR50, also a 6-axis articulated robot. The machine is designed for a robust structure and linear drive and targets users who require fast and precise machining in automated operation.

Sodick demonstrates an easier entry into automation with the sinker EDM AL60G in combination with the EROWA ERC80. This combination is considered a plug-and-play solution: easy to set up, manageable in investment, and already in use by numerous Sodick customers.

'Our automation solutions go beyond mere robot integration,' explains Salvatore Cocco, Vice President of Sodick Deutschland GmbH. 'Whether plug-and-play cell or articulated arm solution: the key is that the automation can adapt to the respective manufacturing situation, rather than the other way around. And that is exactly what we want to show at the AMB.'

Precision in focus: AP250L and VN600Q

The AP250L complements the portfolio as a wire EDM with oil bath. The combination of linear motor drive and gantry structure ensures high positioning and machining accuracy, supported by the SPW control, which simultaneously regulates high-speed electro-erosion and axis movements. The VN600Q is also represented at the booth as a versatile wire EDM.

The VN600Q features linear motors on all axes (X, Y, U, V) as well as absolute linear measuring rods and ceramic components. Characteristic of the VN series are the high positioning accuracy, for which Sodick offers a ten-year warranty, as well as numerous expansion options, such as for conical angle machining or automation of wire management.

The presentation is complemented by the start hole drilling machine K1C, designed for the quick and precise creation of start holes before wire EDM.

Technology partners and co-exhibitors

Several technology partners of Sodick are also represented at AMB with their solutions: The automation solution for sinker EDM comes from EROWA (ERC80), the articulated robots for wire and sinker EDM are supplied by Fruitcore Robotics (SDG.ProOne, SDG.HR50), and various axis solutions from ITS-Technologies from Oberndorf are used for multi-axis machining.

As a co-exhibitor directly at the booth this year is Summira GmbH from Bornheim-Sechtem. The contract manufacturer is itself a long-time user of several Sodick EDM machines and also a supplier for the company: Summira manufactures, among other things, TaperFlex measuring gauges, clamping blocks, and special holders for Sodick and has developed its own optical measurement systems for in-process measurement directly at the EDM machine with the video centering measuring microscope CV-VZM and the measuring station CT-12000.

'The AMB is the right stage for us to show how much productivity is in EDM today when machine and automation are thought together from the start,' says Addelia.
