As a special highlight of the 11th Dortmund Grinding Seminar, the anniversary edition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the technical book 'Grinding, Honing, Lapping, and Polishing' from the Vulkan Verlag program will be presented to the professional audience. The new editors, Prof. Biermann and Prof. Möhring, are pleased that this very traditional collection of knowledge highlights the still very large potential of these processes in light of future requirements through a multitude of current contributions to research and development of the various processes of machining with geometrically undefined cutting edges.

On this basis, current topics in research and development will be presented and discussed at the Dortmund Grinding Seminar through a lecture program and an exhibition with demonstrations. New materials and increasing demands on dimensional accuracy and surface quality present new challenges for machining with geometrically undefined cutting edges. These developments are driving targeted advancements in both research and industrial practice. Through innovative grinding tools and optimized processes, grinding methods are no longer only applied in finishing but also convince in various fields of application with high productivity. At the same time, energy and resource efficiency in manufacturing is increasingly coming into focus.
