There are good reasons why Röders GmbH will present 3 new RPT machines at EMO. The new developments NANOTOL and PRECITEMP not only drastically reduce the reliably achievable tolerances but also improve the surface qualities accordingly. NANOTOL is a guiding concept for extremely linear guiding behavior of the linear axes. With PRECITEMP technology, the RPT machines maintain their precision to 1 µm even with changing temperatures in the workshop. Thus, they significantly surpass the already very precise RXP machines from Röders.

Using a simple aluminum workpiece, the excellent guiding behavior is evident, not only through mirror-like surfaces but also through straightness < 1 µm.
What a machine can do only shows with more complex geometries. Due to the high path accuracy of the RPT machine, it is now possible to produce optical surfaces significantly faster. A convex surface with a diameter of 20 mm was produced in just 120 minutes. The surface with Ra < 10 nm is literally impressive.
There have also been significant improvements in geometric dimensions. Hole measurements in the range of < 1 µm and cylindricities of < 0.5 µm are achievable on the RPT machines.
