With a ceremonial event, Andreas Maier GmbH & Co. KG (AMF) has inaugurated its new logistics center. Numerous guests from politics, business, and society, as well as employees of the family business, attended the commissioning of the state-of-the-art building, which was constructed according to the highest sustainability criteria. "We thank everyone involved for completing this largest investment project in our 135-year company history within the time and budget constraints," emphasizes Johannes Maier, managing partner of Andreas Maier GmbH & Co. KG in Fellbach. "Especially the goal-oriented collaboration with the city during the planning and approval phase was very helpful to us." Fellbach's Mayor Gabriele Zull generously returned the praise: "We are proud that such a traditional family business as AMF continues to commit to the Fellbach location even after 135 years."

With a ceremonial opening event, AMF has handed over a powerful and state-of-the-art logistics center for its future purpose. On 1000 m² of land area, approximately 3800 m² of usable space for a fully automated Autostore system was created in just 30 months of construction time. A shipping area on the ground floor and a processing area for the custom assembly of stored semi-finished products on the first floor complement the underground storage space. Two office floors, each with 1000 m², and a green rooftop terrace complete the four-story building.

"We successfully mastered all challenges that arose during the pleasantly short construction period of only 30 months," emphasizes project manager and management member Wolfgang Balle.

The centerpiece is the Autostore system in the basement, which reaches ten meters deep. Twelve robots operate in two transfer cells within a storage volume of 750,000 liters, accommodating 15,500 containers, of which 500 can be moved per hour. Additionally, space for 1030 pallets has been created, which can be loaded via four truck ramps. The logistics center secures ten jobs and has an additional air freight warehouse. "This ensures that we continue to provide fast and on-time delivery reliability for our numerous customers worldwide," assures Jürgen Förster, a member of the management board of AMF. The forward-looking planning of the building allows for an expansion to nearly double the capacity if needed.

Great emphasis was placed on sustainable construction. The result is gold.

The building is not only technically impressive but also meets the gold standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). "At this company size and construction volume, this is still rather exceptional today," explains architect Moritz Piske from Piske and Partner, whose office usually realizes such standards for large companies and corporations. From land-efficient infill development on the existing company premises to a green roof and windows that can be cleaned from the inside rather than from the outside with lift platforms, all requirements for the gold standard awarded by the DGNB have been implemented.

Together with the appealing facade in horizontal and vertical wave patterns, AMF's modern logistics center embodies a true landmark in Fellbach.
