Lubricant specialist Zeller+Gmelin expands its portfolio with the metalworking oil Multicut SE 13. This multifunctional cutting oil is suitable for a wide range of machining and grinding processes – from turning and milling to demanding applications such as broaching or deep hole drilling. With high thermal stability, low evaporation, and minimal smoke formation, Multicut SE 13 proves itself in traditional gearbox manufacturing as well as in components for e-mobility. Multicut SE 13 is suitable for a variety of metalworking processes – including turning, milling, drilling, grinding, honing, broaching, or deep hole drilling. Even under highly variable machining conditions, such as in automated production lines or with complex component geometries, the lubrication performance remains stable. The combination of high-quality hydrocracked base oils, synthetic lubricants, and tailored EP additives ensures reliable performance even under high thermal and mechanical loads.

"During the development, our focus was on a cutting oil that is both versatile and process-stable – even under extreme conditions," explains Dr. Irene Kreitmeir, product manager at Zeller+Gmelin. "At the same time, our goal was to..."
"To minimize oil mist and smoke development in order to reduce the burden on machine operators and improve workplace quality."
Stable lubricant film under high temperature stress
A central feature of the new lubricant is its thermal stability: The viscosity changes only slightly even at high temperatures, ensuring a consistent lubrication effect even under intense machining temperatures. The oil has a very low Noack evaporation loss, which not only reflects the high quality of the lubricant but also significantly reduces lubricant consumption. Additionally, foam formation is very low, which ensures maximum process reliability, especially in automated processes.
In addition, Multicut SE 13 is designed for a clean working environment. The formulation minimizes the formation of smoke and oil mist, thereby reducing the burden on machine operators and achieving better air quality in production.
Sustainability and approvals for demanding applications

The new Multicut lubricant is formulated to be REACH-compliant and is free from critical substances. The combination of sustainable formulation and high technical performance meets both technical and regulatory requirements for modern manufacturing processes. The biocompatibility according to DIN EN ISO 10993-5:2009 further emphasizes the high responsibility for people and the environment, even in the development of lubricants. In addition, there is an approval for use in Junker grinding machines – an indicator of suitability for ambitious grinding processes, such as those found in gearbox or drive technology.
Applicable from classic transmissions to e-mobility.

The multifunctional oil combines high technical performance with a sustainable formulation and maximum process versatility. It is therefore suitable for the
Non-water-miscible cutting fluids for machining various materials – including cast iron, steel, stainless steel, and selected aluminum alloys – are used in traditional industrial sectors such as gearbox manufacturing as well as in forward-looking fields like component manufacturing for electric drives. "Our new Multicut SE 13 is a universal solution for the metalworking industry – designed for maximum process reliability while ensuring high economic efficiency and sustainability," summarizes Dr. Irene Kreitmeir.
