Mini shrink fitting from NT TOOL

With the new hydraulic shrink fittings, even very small tool shanks can be securely clamped and dampened against vibrations

NT TOOL now offers hydraulic shrink fit chucks with clamping diameters of 3.0 and 4.0 mm. For the first time, shank tools smaller than 6 mm can be clamped directly in the holder with optimal vibration damping and highest precision. Shrink chucks are clearly at a disadvantage here: small tool shanks can only be used reliably with expensive micro-shrink systems, and their monoblock design cannot absorb vibrations generated during the machining process, leading to premature tool wear and chatter marks.

The new mini shrink fit chucks come in two variants: Type PHC-SB features a super-slim interference contour and is perfectly suited for machining in tight workpiece areas, e.g. in tool and mold making and 5-axis machining. Unstable extensions or expensive special tools can thus be replaced, achieving better machining performance. The vibration damping typical for shrink fit chucks has a particularly beneficial effect on tool life and workpiece surfaces: drastic improvements are possible here.

Last but not least, the simple and quick clamping handling creates cost advantages compared to the elaborate shrink clamping technology. The variant PHC-SB-C additionally features internal cooling channels that ensure effective chip transport.
Type PHC-A has a very compact short design, creating ample space in the machine room.

The runout accuracy of the mini shrink fit chucks is 0.003 mm / 3xD with overhangs up to 195 mm in all common interfaces. A special corrosion protection allows for a long service life and helps protect the machine spindle.
