Sandvik Coromant presents the new CoroDrill Dura 462 drill series with more than 2,000 different sizes for a variety of materials and applications. With a new advanced coating technology, extended tool life, and easy handling, the new product line is an outstanding solution for drilling in a wide range of materials.
By combining flexibility and precision, the CoroDrill Dura 462 eliminates the need for various special tools for different materials. The versatile tip geometry of the drill series is designed for adaptability and offers excellent positioning accuracy and significantly extended tool life across a variety of materials, workpiece sizes, and shapes. Thanks to the consistent machining performance of a single tool, users can reduce their tool inventory to streamline their workflows while achieving optimal results.
CoroDrill Dura 462 features a comprehensive range of sizes that ensures adaptability to virtually any drilling application. From micro drills starting at 0.030 mm with a drilling depth of up to 6xD to larger variants up to 20 mm with a drilling depth of up to 8xD, the new product line enables machining of a wide spectrum of materials and machining conditions.
To create a multilayer PVD coating, all drills in standard sizes from 3 mm are fully coated with the new Zertivo 2.0 technology.
The Zertivo 2.0 coating technology is a standout feature of the CoroDrill Dura 462, as it significantly extends tool life through reduced wear and improved heat resistance,” explains James Thorpe, Global Product Manager for Hole Making and Composite Machining at Sandvik Coromant. “The coating allows for higher cutting speeds without loss of performance, ultimately leading to increased productivity and lower costs per hole.
Initial tests have shown that CoroDrill Dura 462 significantly improves efficiency in various applications. “One of our customers using the CoroDrill Dura 462 for producing blind holes was able to increase their productivity by 85 percent and more than double tool life compared to a competitor's product,” reports Matthew Johnson, Product Application Expert at Sandvik Coromant. “Another customer, who wanted to improve cost efficiency and process reliability in cross drilling, achieved a productivity increase of 110 percent and a 36 percent longer tool life compared to their previous solution. Given the significant improvements in performance and tool life, the CoroDrill Dura 462 represents a true leap forward in drilling various materials.
As part of Sandvik Coromant's Manufacturing Wellness Program, services such as reconditioning and recycling are also offered for the CoroDrill Dura 462. “We want to support our customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their tools,” emphasizes James Thorpe. “Extending tool life and recycling used tools benefits both our customers and the environment, making our solutions an investment in the future.
The versatility, extensive selection, and ability to enhance productivity across a wide range of materials and applications make the CoroDrill Dura 462 the first choice for manufacturing companies expecting consistently high drilling performance when drilling in different materials.
