The three-flute drill slot cutter MP271 (Ø 16–25 mm) with a segmented cutting length of 30 mm and center cutting edge is ideal for deep engagements – such as when trimming – and minimizes vibrations thanks to uneven division. The two-flute ball cutter MP470 (Ø 4–16 mm) is designed for generating and finishing freeform surfaces.
Both PKD cutters were specifically developed for ISO N materials such as aluminum, Al-Si alloys, magnesium alloys, copper alloys, or composite materials, with Walter's proprietary PKD grade WDN20 being able to multiply tool life in many cases. The relieved PKD cutting edges of the tools are also reconditioning-capable, which – along with the significant extension of tool life – enhances the sustainability of the tools, reduces cutting material costs, and thus increases profitability. Their specific properties make the PKD cutters particularly interesting for aluminum machining in general mechanical engineering as well as in the automotive or aerospace industries.
