For the finishing of blade foot grooves and blade feet for turbines, milling tools in the shape of a Christmas tree are used. FRANKEN has revised their geometry and associated it with the name Pagoda. The Pagoda form cutter features a different design of the clamping grooves, where the clamping groove depth is individually adjusted to the workpiece dimensions. This shape-constant adjustment of the clamping grooves allows for a doubling of the number of cutting edges and thus an increase in feed rate. To ensure that the cutting edges are supplied with sufficient coolant despite the reduction of chip spaces, the Pagoda cutter has been equipped with significantly more coolant exit openings. Due to the larger helix angles, there are always two cutting edges in engagement with the component. This results in a smoother operation and a very high surface quality.
