Compact long-short lathe for complex tasks

Even more compact than the long-short automatic lathe TRAUB TNL32? 'If it can't be done, it doesn't exist,' thought the developers. The result: The TRAUB TNL32 compact, which requires a smaller footprint – comparable to the TNL20 – yet still has performance data that nearly matches that of the 'normal' TNL32.

The new TRAUB TNL32 compact is designed for productive long and short turning of workpieces of medium and high complexity. It features two identical working spindles (max. 8,000 rpm, 9.9 kW and 19 Nm each at 100% duty cycle) and two tool turrets (each with 8 stations, max. 12,000 rpm, 1.5 kW at 100% duty cycle), each with X, Z, and Y axes. The maximum bar passage is 32 mm in diameter, and the maximum turning length is 220 mm. The machine concept of the TNL32 compact has been consistently tailored to the daily requirements of users. The kinematics of the machine allows for effective and simultaneous processing with two, three, or four tools.

The working space of the TRAUB TNL32 compact ensures a very high power density for economical production with compact dimensions. The vertical working space concept stands for optimal process reliability combined with minimal setup efforts. The decisive productivity advantage is achieved by the machine with its high dynamics, for which a machine bed made of cast iron and vibration-damping machine feet form the basis. The high rigidity and thermal stability also ensure optimal workpiece quality.

Customizable

The new compact TRAUB long-short turning machine is configurable in three variants: as TNL32-9 compact, TNL32-9B compact, and TNL32-11 compact. While the TNL32-9 compact has nine linear axes, two turrets (each with 8 stations, max. 12,000 rpm, 2.0 kW), a back unit with four stations, and an autonomous counter spindle, the TNL32-9B compact features an upper tool turret equipped with an additional B-axis.

The TNL32-11 compact variant includes an additional front unit with an autonomous cross slide in Z and X, as well as an NC swivel axis, totaling eleven linear axes. This second upper tool carrier has six positions. Three of the tool holders are driven, and one can even be equipped with a double holder.

For all versions, an optional back unit with four tool holders is available, which is mounted on the lower turret. In full configuration, the TRAUB TNL32 compact long-short turning machine combines the productivity of a very powerful turning machine with the ability to manufacture even demanding workpieces precisely and economically.
