With multi-spindle machines at AMB 2026

Increase productivity, reduce costs. At AMB 2026, INDEX showcases its portfolio with the latest turning-milling centers, multi-spindle machines, production lathes, etc.

At AMB 2026, INDEX demonstrates how productivity can be increased with the latest turning-milling centers, multi-spindle machines, production turning machines, and automation solutions. Additionally, the company presents cost-effective entry-level variants of machines and robot cells that deliver 100% INDEX quality with slightly reduced technical specifications.

Fully on trend for years: complete machining with powerful turning-milling centers. At AMB 2026, the Esslingen-based lathe manufacturer presents its new turning-milling center INDEX G160, which rounds off the current G series. Also on display: the essentially identical TRAUB TNX160. The difference lies in the control: while the INDEX G160 is equipped with a Sinumerik ONE-CNC, the TNX160 is controlled by the TRAUB-CNC TX8i-s based on Mitsubishi.

Both machines are conceptually based on the previous INDEX G200.2 and cover its range of parts. Their main feature: the powerful motorized milling spindle, which has both a Y-axis and a B-axis and can work on both the main and counter spindle. Additionally, both turning-milling centers have directly driven, highly dynamic main and counter spindles, with the customer having the choice between a variant with a 42 mm bar passage – ideal for smaller, high-speed parts – and a more torque-strong spindle with a 65 mm passage. The tool magazine holds 60 or optionally 90 tools, which can be exchanged into the milling spindle by a double gripper – an important element for automated production.

Automatic Tool Change in the Revolver

The INDEX G220 is another turning-milling center from the successful G series. However, visitors to the fair will likely gather around the connected robot cell iXcenter L, which is presented as a cost-effective entry-level variant with a safety fence. The special feature of this exhibit: the robot takes over the automatic tool change in the revolver.

Only requirement: The VDI mount of the tool revolver contains a straight or angled HSK basic holder. Why this is necessary and how the tool change works in detail will be explained by INDEX specialists on-site.

iXcenter now also for multi-spindle machines

INDEX presents another new automation solution at the multi-spindle turning machine MS24-6: a specially developed iXcenter for this type of machine. The robot cell, mounted directly on the machine, takes over the automated unloading and handling of workpieces. Thanks to its modular design, the iXcenter can be used for numerous other tasks and is capable of closed-loop operation with appropriate additional equipment. This supports stable, low-manpower series production of insert parts with consistent process quality. By the way: The iXcenter can be retrofitted to common INDEX multi-spindle turning machines.

Unbeatable Surface Productivity

Presented at the Open House and now at AMB. The TRAUB MS12-4 Image: Index

Certainly a highlight at the INDEX booth is the new TRAUB MS12-4 – a revolutionary multi-spindle long/short turning machine for small workpieces in the diameter range of 3 to 13 mm. Behind this machine lies a completely new kinematic multi-spindle concept that does not rely on the usual spindle drum and sequential processing. The MS12-4 is based on the principle of the long turning machine TRAUB TNL12, whose core components such as spindle and counter spindle, revolver, and flexible tool carriers (FlexWT) are stacked almost fourfold. This allows four parts to be processed simultaneously, contributing to enormous surface productivity.

Additional advantages arise from the modular design of the TRAUB MS12-4. In addition to the full configuration with four spindles and turrets, as well as the same number of counter-spindles and flexible tool holders (FlexWT), the customer can choose further equipment variants. This allows the long-turn multi-spindle machine to be cost-effectively configured precisely to the requirements of the components.

Perfect Price-Performance Ratio

The long-short turning machine TRAUB TNL12 lean also saves costs. This entry-level variant is configured with only one revolver and a rear unit, which keeps the purchase price low. However, the driven guide bushing is adjustable but not programmable. For those who need more technology – no problem. Optional extensions are also possible with the Lean variant.

Not an entry-level machine, but the classic among production turning machines is the INDEX C200. It should not be missing from any trade fair. The turning machine known for highly productive bar processing is offered by INDEX with both Siemens and Fanuc controls. At AMB, the C200 will be showcased in the Fanuc variant.

Rich Source of Information

At all presented machines and systems, INDEX specialists are available to provide detailed information. Additionally, the Meet-the-experts counter in the center of the booth invites discussions with INDEX application and technology specialists on challenges and machining solutions for medical, aerospace, and e-mobility. There are also INDEX digital specialists present. They explain to visitors the practical advantages that the digital INDEX iXworld brings. They present the numerous iX4.0 apps that ensure transparency and productivity throughout the entire machining process chain. Furthermore, they demonstrate how efficiently the iXshop can be used for procuring spare parts and other aids and what advantages iXservices offer in aftersales service.
