"Innovate Manufacturing" is the guiding theme of EMO 2025 in Hanover (September 22 to 26). In line with this motto, EUCHNER presents its groundbreaking solutions for machine and plant engineering. The focus is on the current generation of the Electronic-Key-System EKS2, which enables safe and standard-compliant mode selection up to Performance Level e and simplifies integration into industrial control systems.

With the EKS2, users can easily, individually, and securely manage access to machines and their functions. The complete system consists of an easily integrable evaluation device via PROFINET and a reading unit in a compact and industrial-grade design. Additionally, robust EKS2 keys in different colors and integrated data encryption are included. EUCHNER has developed the system with clear goals:

It should be easy to implement, operate, and adapt. A special highlight is the simplified integration of mode selection with a touch panel. Where previously high programming effort was required in the control, the EKS2 allows for quick configuration and implementation through the secure evaluation of mode selection already in the device itself. The selected mode is then only transmitted to the control via the integrated 1-out-of-n safety outputs. Thus, the system enables the implementation of mode selection at the highest safety level up to Performance Level e. Personalized access permissions for up to six modes can be easily assigned via input masks and stored on the key. Current requirements such as security aspects are taken into account from the outset.

Data communication to the control occurs via PROFINET. With the integrated RT switch, the system can be even more easily integrated into existing network structures. The transponder technology MIFARE DESFire ensures additional data and manipulation security. Another plus: The convenient management via the PC software Transponder Coding TC2 and the Electronic-Key-Manager EKM2 in combination with the programming station allows users to individually describe keys and manage rights flexibly.

EUCHNER expands its portfolio of the successful MGB2 and now offers users connectivity to all established fieldbus systems. Image: Euchner

In addition to the EKS2, EUCHNER also showcases the MGB2 Modular with connectivity to all established fieldbus systems at EMO. The system reliably secures access to safety doors and fences behind which hazardous areas of machines and plants lie, even at temperatures down to -30 degrees Celsius. Users achieve the highest safety category 4 / PL e / SIL3.
Another highlight is the developments around IO-Link Safety, which EUCHNER now combines with its proven and robust products. Users benefit from secure communication and a unified interface for switches, locks, and safety door systems.

The trade fair appearance is rounded off by EUCHNER Safety Services, which comprehensively support and advise users in the compliant implementation of safety solutions and the new Machinery Directive.
