The versatile, compact X-ray CT system from Nikon provides top-notch CT inspection capabilities and exceptional data quality for demanding industrial quality control.
Nikon Corporation (Nikon) has introduced the latest product in its VOXLS X-ray CT product line, the VOXLS 20 C 225. This system is based on the proven principles of the company's VOXLS 30 series and VOXLS 40 series, offering maximum performance with minimal space requirements, thus providing an unmatched value per voxel in the market.
The VOXLS 20 C 225 offers the largest CT scan area in a system that fits through a standard double door, allowing for flexible integration into nearly all quality control laboratories and manufacturing environments.
The new system features Nikon's metrology platform with a granite base, rigid manipulator towers made of steel, and high-precision encoders and motors. These technical decisions ensure the precision, repeatability, and reliability for which the Nikon brand is known, while delivering exceptional X-ray and CT data quality.
Key features include:
• Superior CT scan area: Offers an industry-leading inspection volume of 555 mm (diameter) x 759 mm (height) with a compact footprint of only 2,451 mm (length) x 1,173 mm (depth).
• Dual-source configuration: Features a motorized dual-source configuration with a 225 kV reflection target and a 160 kV transmission target, allowing users to select the optimal source for their application at the push of a button. This enables automatic and quick switching between the reflection target (for higher productivity through increased X-ray flux) and the transmission target (for best possible resolution).
• Source optimization: Simplifies the filament setup process for optimal performance, facilitates filament changes, and ensures a longer filament lifespan.
• Enhanced user-friendliness: With features such as a filter changer, motorized door that opens in less than four seconds, and a large viewing window for excellent visibility inside.
• Versatile scan functions: Supports a motorized FID and advanced scan modes such as Panel Shift CT, Tilted CT, and Pixel Split CT, enabling a variety of inspection techniques for different applications.
The first Nikon VOXLS 20 C 225 systems will be delivered this fall and will be used in industries such as electronics, additive manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and medical technology.
"Our customers have been looking for a comprehensive X-ray CT solution that combines advanced features with efficient space utilization," explains Ben Morgan, Product Manager at Nikon. "The VOXLS 20 C 225 offers exactly that. With its industry-leading inspection space, innovative features like X.Tend Helical, Scatter Correction CT, AI reconstruction, and dual-source configuration with Rotation Target 2.0, we believe we have created the most powerful and versatile X-ray CT system in its class."
