The Tool of the Year Competition

ANCA CNC Machines, a leading provider of CNC grinding technology, will again host two competitions in 2025 to honor progress and achievements in the precision tool industry.

"Tool of the Year" offers tool manufacturers from around the world a platform to showcase their best and most precise tools as well as their craftsmanship. Participants compete for a range of prizes, including ANCA products worth AUD$ 10,000, a trip to ANCA, on-site consulting by ANCA experts, a 12-month ANCA Academy subscription, and other attractive prizes from sponsors GDS, Tyrolit, oelheld, and Premex.

Participants can enter in one or both of the following categories: #MadeonANCA for physical tools manufactured with ANCA technology, and Most Innovative Tool Design for virtual tools.
The 1st place at #MadeonANCA goes to:
• Option 1: ANCA accessories/software worth AUD$10,000 and a trip to ANCA Australia or Thailand
• Option 2: An on-site consultation by an ANCA application technician to optimize cycle times and increase productivity.
The 1st place in the virtual category goes to:
• A 12-month subscription to the ANCA Academy, ANCA's e-learning platform, for five people.

Submissions are possible until July 31. The winners will be announced at EMO 2025 in Hanover. The success stories of female professionals The ANCA Female Machinist Award honors the outstanding achievements of women in the precision tool industry. The award aims to highlight the accomplishments and the growing importance of female professionals in tool engineering.

Jennifer Baldus, Managing Director of Spreyer-Werkzeugtechnik GmbH in Limburg and a jury member, said: "Spreyer has stood for precision and performance in the tool industry for 50 years. Our success has always been the result of dedicated and talented people – women as well as men. Today, I experience in my daily interactions with customers: Women are more in demand in our industry than ever."

The competition 'Female Machinist of the Year' highlights the outstanding achievements of
"Precision tool grinders are in the spotlight, creating important role models and encouraging young talents to pursue their path in this demanding and fascinating profession. Women of all qualification levels who actively use ANCA technology in their work are invited to participate. The jury evaluates based on a questionnaire the criteria of professional achievements, problem-solving ability, as well as critical and creative thinking."

The winner of the Female Machinist Award receives:
• A complete package for visiting a large trade fair where ANCA is exhibiting.
• Exclusive networking opportunities with executives, engineers, and product experts from ANCA
• Networking opportunities with industry professionals and access to educational seminars and workshops

Evaluation criteria

The tools of the five finalists are evaluated based on the following criteria:
• Best surface finish in Ra (average roughness) at the groove and cutting edge
• As precise adherence to the tolerances specified in the drawing as possible (e.g., if the tolerance for the diameter is +/- 0.010mm and the tool is measured at 0.005mm, this is considered advantageous).
• The tightest tolerance according to the drawing (the tool with the lowest tolerance is preferred)
