Cool duo for internal turning

ISCAR presents the latest representative of the PICCO line. Thanks to double cooling, the new PICCOJET offers longer tool life and allows for efficient chip removal during turning, grooving, threading, chamfering, profile turning, and axial grooving.

What cools a cutting tool better than a coolant hole? – Exactly! Two. That's why the new PICCOJET cutting inserts now feature a coolant supply on the side as well as a coolant through-hole directly at the cutting edge. This cool duo brings the coolant directly into the cutting zone and optimally dissipates the generated heat. This protects the cutting edge, ensures process reliability, and significantly increases tool life. Additionally, the user benefits from very good chip control and evacuation, as well as high surface qualities in all variations of grooving in small diameters, and can also adjust the cutting parameters upwards.

The new PICCOJET inserts are available in various geometries for turning, grooving, threading, chamfering, profile turning, and axial grooving. They are compatible with the existing holders PICCO/MG PCO and PICCO ACE, allowing for quick and easy tool changes. The inserts are made from the wear-resistant, TiAlN PVD-coated fine grain type IC908. This is suitable for machining heat-resistant alloys, austenitic stainless steel, hard alloys, as well as carbon steel at medium to high cutting speeds and is particularly resistant to notch wear and built-up edge formation.

More innovations in the pipeline

The new PICCOJET not only makes machining easier but – thanks to a new designation key – also the identification of the respective application. User-friendly, the user can recognize which PICCOJET cutting insert they have in front of them by the letter code.

Further innovations are already in the starting blocks: ISCAR will soon equip the PICCO-ACE holders with additional coolant outlets on the shank to further improve chip evacuation. Additionally, ISCAR is expanding the series with inserts featuring chip formers – specifically for machining difficult-to-cut materials.
