The scalable, flexibly adaptable operating system also includes a complete Virtual Robot Controller (VRC). AI-capable, ready for the new ISO 10218:2025 and cyber-resilient, it secures digital manufacturing for companies of all types. Thanks to a web-based user interface and the ability to use both proprietary devices and proven KUKA counterparts, robot control with iiQKA.OS2 is simpler and more accessible than ever.

iiQKA.OS2 combines the best of both worlds – the proven core of KUKA System Software (KSS) and the modern user interface with modular safety – thus meeting important automation requirements. The combination of decades of development experience with modern tech stacks and the latest web technologies offers numerous new possibilities – both in terms of functionalities and regarding user experience and workflows.

Uncomplicated adjustments with the all-in-one engineering suite iiQWorks

However, iiQKA.OS2 not only makes production automation more efficient but also simpler: The new web-based user interface iiQKA.UI and individually customizable application modules provide companies and production facilities of all kinds – from small and medium-sized enterprises to OEMs – with an easy entry into both virtual and real robot control. The portfolio ranges from determining realistic load data to creating custom software packages to comprehensive simulation.

Changes and adjustments can also be made quickly and easily without physical hardware. In combination with the advanced all-in-one engineering suite iiQWorks, iiQKA.OS2 enables the simulation of multiple robots and their peripherals. This way, project plans are adhered to, resources are used efficiently, and facilities are put into operation faster.

Control all kinematics from a single source, even with your own device

Using the KR C5 and KR C5 micro controllers for iiQKA.OS2, all KUKA robot kinematics can be operated with the new operating system – from delta and SCARA robots to 6-axis robots of all payloads. This initially applies to small robotics, and from the second half of 2025, it will also apply to large robotics.

Furthermore, the system can also be used without a KUKA control device via 'use your own device': The KUKA smartPLUG can be docked to a standard tablet and connected via a USB cable. This allows the robots to be programmed and operated intuitively and quickly on the iiQKA.UI.

Thanks to a variety of engineering functions such as simulations, offline programming, and comprehensive testing in a virtual environment, errors can be detected early with iiQKA.OS2. This significantly reduces risks and costs.
The optional, powerful expansion board from NVIDIA, optionally installed in the KR C5 and KR C5 micro for iiQKA.OS2, enables the integration of AI – initially for KUKA's own vision applications. Furthermore, the system will be ready for the new ISO 10218:2025, cyber-resilient and IEC 62443 certified – thus well-prepared for future challenges. In short: With iiQKA.OS2, KUKA presents a comprehensive solution for the digital manufacturing of the future that leaves no wishes unfulfilled.
