The ZN-negative inserts feature a six-cutting-edge design that doubles the number of usable edges compared to conventional positive inserts. The cutting edges are inclined in the SW reaming head, allowing for stronger and more robust inserts to be used – ideal for machining difficult-to-cut materials. This extends tool life and significantly reduces machining costs.

Additionally, new insert holders for the ZN series have been developed. These specially tuned holders are optimal for machining steel and cast materials and are particularly suitable for applications in tool and mold making as well as for machining cast components and large welded assemblies.

The SW reaming head offers maximum flexibility and allows for the use of both symmetrically arranged and staggered cutting edges. This allows for optimal adaptation to various machining requirements. The change between positive and negative inserts is quick and easy through the exchange of the insert holder, minimizing machine downtime. The compact design ensures a force and form-fitting connection that reduces vibrations and guarantees the highest precision during machining.

Thanks to the robust construction, a stable connection between the tool body and insert holder is ensured. The precision-ground gearing additionally contributes to high stability during machining.

"BIG DAISHOWA offers a six-cut solution for reaming as a standard for the first time with the new ZN inserts," explains Christian David, Sales Manager at BIG DAISHOWA Germany. "The ZN inserts were specifically developed for the SW reaming head and are part of our extensive range of indexable inserts, which are tailored to various machining requirements with different geometries and sizes."

The new ZN-negative inserts are now available in two sizes, ZN05 and ZN08, and are compatible with SW boring heads from 20 mm to 203 mm in diameter.
