The requirements for modern cutting material systems in the machining of high-performance materials are the focus of the IAK 'Tool Coatings and Cutting Materials', which is held biannually by the Fraunhofer Institute for Coating and Surface Technology (IST) in Braunschweig and the Institute for Machine Tools and Factory Operation (IWF) at the Technical University of Berlin.
