The horizontal three-cutter is suitable for profile grooving as well as thread turning of special threads. With the new system, Horn offers an economical and flexible solution for demanding machining tasks in both internal and external turning.
The special feature of the new type 395 is the position of the indexable insert. Unlike conventional systems, the insert does not contact the circumference but is positioned in specially designed grooves. This creates completely new possibilities for profile design. The circumference of the cutting insert can be profiled almost freely, allowing for individual tool solutions for a wide range of customer requirements. The precision-ground cutting edges ensure high process reliability. At the same time, the large contact area of the indexable insert in the cutting force direction ensures stable clamping in the holder. This positively affects tool life, surface quality, and process stability.
With three usable cutting edges, the new indexable insert type 395 also increases cost-effectiveness in profile grooving and thread turning. The cutting inserts can be customized and can optionally be manufactured with chip-forming grooves. The tool coating is individually adjusted depending on the application. Horn also emphasizes high flexibility in the tool holders. Various special designs, such as boring bars or square clamping holders, can be precisely tailored to the respective machining task.
For the new system type 395, two blank sizes are available, including a completely newly developed variant. This expands Horn's portfolio with a powerful tool system for complex profile and thread machining with high demands for precision and cost-effectiveness.
