This is exactly where KASTO focuses at the AMB (September 15 to 19, Stuttgart): In Hall 8 at Stand B21/B24, the company shows how storage, saws, and automation come together to create a continuous material flow. The focus is not only on individual machines but on solutions that simplify processes and eliminate bottlenecks in operations.
New series KASTOssb: more power in less space
The new KASTOssb will be presented to the professional audience for the first time at this year's AMB and is the centerpiece of KASTO's trade fair appearance. The universal band saw builds on the proven high-performance band saw machine KASTOssb A2 but takes it a step further: it is more compact, user-friendly, and versatile.
A significant improvement is the switch to an electromechanical saw feed. This introduces a demand-oriented hydraulic system that replaces hydraulic continuous operation. The resulting reduced energy consumption increases energy efficiency, and the noise level decreases, making the new KASTOssb more ergonomic. Additional advantages come from the thoughtfully designed folding doors at the back of the machine. They reduce space requirements while allowing comfortable access for operation and maintenance work. The chip conveyor can now be mounted on the left or right.
This allows the machine to better adapt to spatial conditions and different hall layouts. Additionally, depending on the configuration, the installation space can be reduced by up to 600 mm on the left or right.
The KASTOssb is universally applicable and reliably cuts pipes and profiles – from construction steel to difficult-to-machine materials. Thanks to carbide capability and bundle cutting function, it is also well-equipped for demanding applications.
This expands the range of applications for companies that need to reliably saw demanding materials and have only limited space available.
Reimagined – saw center in tight spaces
The new KASTOssb, presented for the first time at the AMB, can also be seamlessly integrated into KASTO's second trade fair highlight: With the KASTOcenter compact, the company presents an innovative overall concept for automated sawing, storage, and material flow processes on the smallest footprint. The compact saw center connects tower storage, robot-assisted loading and unloading, sawing, and downstream processing steps into a continuous system from a single source.
This creates efficiently interlinked, flexibly configurable, and 24/7-capable processes with minimal space requirements. The comprehensive package, presented for the first time at the AMB, offers a forward-looking automation solution with its highly compact and modular design – especially for medium-sized companies.
The new control generation ProControl makes sawing operations easier
With the newly launched KASTO ProControl, sawing becomes more efficient, intuitive, and transparent. The optimized control system supports operators in their daily work, simplifies processes, and creates more clarity at the machine.
It displays the current machine status on a clear dashboard, guides through the process with a short response time, and offers a secure entry point for less experienced users with the new Simple Mode. Functions like material library, cutting plan, and intelligent cutting optimization save time and material. Diagnostic and analysis tools help to quickly narrow down disruptions and keep downtime to a minimum. The new control generation started in the KASTOwin series, is now also the centerpiece of the new KASTOssb, and will subsequently be rolled out to other saw models.
Automated cutting of linear guides through camera-based drilling pattern recognition
KASTO also shows how manual measuring and positioning steps when cutting linear guides and profile rails can be significantly simplified and automated using a camera-based method. The system captures the drilling pattern directly in the circular saw, determines the exact cutting position from it, and subsequently performs the cutting process safely. Users benefit from fewer manual interventions, higher repeat accuracy, and better standardizable processes – especially with high variant diversity and increasing demands for quality and reproducibility. In the long term, the process can also be combined with further automation steps such as feeding, storage technology, material flow, or sorting.
Wide saw portfolio for different requirements
In addition, visitors can experience KASTO's diverse sawing expertise live. The portfolio covers various applications: The KASTOssb remains the space-saving, robust all-rounder for steel trading and classic metalworking. The KASTOwin is aimed at automated series production with changing orders. The KASTOtec stands for industrial applications with large cross-sections and demanding materials.
Modern sawing technology from KASTO with good funding opportunities
Currently, there are good chances for state funding for investments in modern, energy-efficient KASTO sawing technology in many cases. The systems come with important prerequisites – for example, energy-efficient drives, intelligent control technology, efficient cutting processes, reduced auxiliary times, and resource-saving operation.
