Vacuum specialist Schmalz has further developed the block vacuum VCBL-GL. The new generation impresses with a modular structure, a comprehensive spare parts catalog, and a broader range of applications – for more flexibility and lower costs throughout the entire lifecycle.

The proven VCBL-GL delivers on its promises. Originally, Schmalz developed the block vacuum specifically for grinding and cutting glass workpieces on flat table machines from the Japanese manufacturer Bando Kiko. The vacuum specialist has all common heights of the glass industry standardly in stock. And due to the modular design, special heights can also be implemented upon request. Now, the innovative solution is also suitable for other industries, such as stone processing in the future. This is made possible, among other things, by the new triple seal, which keeps the vacuum even more reliably and offers more – especially in demanding applications. With its high lateral load capacity, the vacuum securely and gently fixes these, whether they are dry or wet.

For maximum flexibility, Schmalz has made the new version even more modular: individual components can be easily exchanged, combined, or adapted. This also facilitates service and maintenance. Thanks to a comprehensive spare parts catalog, users benefit from higher availability and lower overall operating costs. The modular design also allows for a purchase price that is up to 40 percent cheaper compared to the previous version.

The VCBL-GL-C for glass processing is available in various basic geometries: square, rectangular, or in special shapes like triangular. Individual requests can also be solved with flexible heights. The upper suction plate is manufactured by Schmalz individually according to customer data, while the base plate is optimally matched to the clamping surface. This allows each workpiece to be clamped efficiently and precisely.

A special highlight of the VCBL-GL-C is the reversing function: users can handle mirror-image components with just one vacuum. The special friction material allows for high lateral force absorption and precise processing even under large forces. With a height tolerance of ±0.05 millimeters, replaceable sealing cord, and robust aluminum base body, the VCBL-GL is precise, economical, and robust. Thus, it is suitable for continuous operation in series production.
