In his work jacket with the dynamic Evermore logo, skilled worker Chen stands in a modern machine hall in the northern Chinese metropolis of Jiaxing, attentively observing the control panel of the CNC universal external cylindrical grinding machine S31. It hums diligently alongside many other machines in the meticulously organized hall with its green floor and yellow supply channels on the wall. 'The STUDER machine operates reliably and has a very high machining accuracy; the scrap rate is hardly measurable,' says Chen. The experienced employee has been working for Evermore, the manufacturer of high-quality machine components, for 18 years and is currently overseeing the production of C6-type tool holders.

Just a few dozen meters from the machine room, it suddenly becomes quiet. Like in a museum, polished workpieces shine here: conical shapes made of high-alloy steel, holders, and clamping chucks for tools such as drills. It is Evermore's showroom, designed in the company's light green colors, and two men stand in front of one of the parts engaged in an animated conversation.

'Our customers appreciate the uncompromising quality of our products, both in terms of geometry and surface quality,' says one of them. It is Barry Liao, the General Manager of Evermore. Whether precision components for the automotive industry, computer electronics, hydraulics, medical technology, or other areas of metalworking: the company has built an excellent reputation regionally and internationally for more than two decades.

Success through trustworthy partnership

This successful path in China began in 2000 when Liao's father founded the Evermore subsidiary in Jiaxing. Initially focused on the production of precision machine accessories such as CNC clamping chucks, tool systems, and tool holders, the company steadily expanded its portfolio and invested in advanced manufacturing technologies as well as optimized production and management processes.

During this time, China has developed into a world-leading technology and industrial nation, and Evermore has been able to assert itself in this demanding competitive environment thanks to its high standards. 'Our success is also inextricably linked to the close cooperation with STUDER,' says Liao.

Next to him in the showroom stands Wu Kui, Sales Manager & Senior Sales Technology Support from UNITED GRINDING China, who serves STUDER customers in the country. He visits Evermore at least once a month, and the two men have known each other for many years and have developed a trusting relationship over time. 'With the extensive expertise of our specialists, we have been able to competently advise Evermore from the beginning on which machines and configurations are best suited for their individual products and production processes.

I have personally trained some employees here on STUDER machines,' recalls Wu. Thanks to this advice, it was possible, for example, to realize several grinding functions as well as grinding precise internal and external contours or non-round geometries and end faces on a single machine, significantly increasing production efficiency.

S131, S31, and KC33: Several STUDER machines in use

It is therefore not surprising that several cylindrical grinding machines from STUDER are in use at the modern production site with about 14,000 square meters and 230 employees. And each of them plays an important role in the production process. First, there are two CNC universal internal cylindrical grinding machines S131 that have a fixed place in Evermore's machine park.

One of them manufactures highly precise internal bores in polygon shaft components, while the other grinds internal threads for miniature adjusting screws. The S131 is particularly compact and features high-quality grinding technology such as the innovative StuderGuide® guide system, high-precision axis drives with linear motors, a fast direct drive of the grinding spindle turret, or the practical automatic swivel function of the workpiece table.

Meanwhile, a CNC universal external cylindrical grinding machine S31 is responsible for grinding precise outer diameters of polygon shaft components. This model is ideal for small to medium-sized workpieces with a maximum weight of up to 150 kilograms and can be adapted for various tasks thanks to a modular system.

The swiveling grinding spindle head with a high-resolution B-axis of 0.00005° allows for external, internal, and face grinding in a single setup. The stable machine bed made of solid granite S103 minimizes vibrations and thermal influences for reliably excellent surface quality. Finally, a KC33 reliably produces the external threads of the adjusting screws. This economical STUDER universal cylindrical grinding machine is manufactured in China and is particularly valued for its versatility, precision, and reliability.

More efficient production and higher competitiveness

'We chose STUDER machines because they enable highly precise machining with reliable process security. 'This is reflected in an extremely low number of NIO parts,' explains Evermore's General Manager. This, along with the reduction of working times through quick setup and changeover times, easy operation, and automation options, has significantly lowered production costs.

'And on the other hand, the quality of our products is at a higher level thanks to STUDER. All of this has significantly increased our competitiveness,' adds Liao.

He now walks with Wu Kui from the showroom into the machine hall, where expert Cheng is still overseeing today's production. After greetings and a brief status update, anecdotes are exchanged in a friendly atmosphere. It quickly becomes clear: success depends not only on the machines but also on the trusting collaboration of the people involved. 'For us, it is extremely important to support our customers as quickly and competently as possible. Anyone who invests in a STUDER machine also receives excellent customer care,' says Wu. Liao nods in agreement and recalls a situation when a machine had to be set up with great urgency for a new customer order: 'The technical team from STUDER provided us with extremely professional advice that significantly optimized the production process.'

Innovation ensures lasting success

For the future, Liao expects this collaboration to become even more important. Many of his customers in industries such as automotive, electronics, or medicine increasingly require more precise components, often made from demanding materials, to meet the ever-growing demands for efficiency and accuracy. Here, it is a great advantage that STUDER, as a Swiss quality manufacturer with over 111 years of tradition, is among the global leaders in grinding technology and continuously works on new features that ensure the ongoing success of its customers.

Evermore's General Manager leads his guest back to the showroom. Just before parting, the two discuss future trends in the industry. 'I think artificial intelligence will become even more important, for example, for real-time adjustment of grinding parameters or for the automatic generation of the optimal machining path,' says Liao. Wu nods and says, 'That's also interesting for our professionals in development.' Even today, STUDER machines are characterized by high process adaptability thanks to digital data processing and analysis, enabling quick product line changes and strengthening competitiveness. But whatever the future may bring: Evermore and STUDER will walk the path to success together.
